The drums, a fascinating, majestic and imposing instrument, which to get to the way we know it today, has gone through different eras and musical styles. We will learn together the history, the technique, the grooves and how it has evolved in the genre that most represents you and belongs to you. Jazz, blues, rock, pop, rap etc.

Becoming a confident musician is a skill that requires discipline, dedication and hard work. However I strongly believe that whether you wish to progress your skills on an instrument to a professional level, simply get the most out of playing In a band with friends or jamming along to your favourite playlists, the art of learning an instrument is an incredibly rewarding skill. In our lessons we will focus on building a solid foundation across the basics of playing the Drum Kit. We will discover the rich and diverse history of the instrument and move through the jazz, funk, rock and pop era's of music. While I am happy to tailor all of these lessons to the student's needs, I do believe having a basic knowledge of where the instrument and it's vocabulary came from is essential and will have a positive impact on the students playing. Listening is important! We will work through a number of landmark recordings that carve the path of the Drum Kit's evolution and continue the listening process all the way to your favourite songs and how the drums affect that music and the rest of the band! I am also happy to work through ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and/or Rockschool exam grades. Music is all about communication, and being able to fluently communicate ideas on any instrument requires time and practice. However, like with your very first English lessons in school, over time you can develop the skill of communication to a point where you can exchange many different ideas and create interesting conversations (this time between musical instruments rather than your friends in the pub!). Although I understand music is a not a career for everyone, I strongly believe that learning how to play any instrument properly with discipline and good practice will enhance your life is more ways than anyone who doesn't play music will understand.

I play in bands, work as a session musician and record in studios. Regardless of your skill level — whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician — I’m ready to guide you in the art of drumming. I guarantee that every lesson will be packed with knowledge and inspiration. My training programme is individually tailored to suit all goals and levels of ability. And a tonne of useful homework awaits you) Age doesn’t matter — I am willing to work with students from 6 years old and up, there is plenty of experience working with even the youngest future drummers.

I offer drum and percussion classes for all kinds of levels. I am open to the needs of each student. (Different styles on drums, improvisation, different percussion instruments...) Classes will be online and the schedule will be flexible, depending on the student's needs.

Intent of course is the development of piano proficiency skills. Focus given to basic keyboard technique, score reading and performance, sight-reading, harmonization, accompanying, and transposition. We shall be learning about different musical instruments that you may wish to study. Gain experience practicing a new instrument (the soprano recorder). Learn basic music literacy skills. This class is intended for students ages 6–8 who are interested in studying a musical instrument, but who wish to learn more before making the commitment to private instrument lessons. I was ranked one of the 'Top 20 Millennium players' by 'Drumscene magazine. I have appeared in 'Modern Drummer' (U.S.A), Rhythm (U.K), Percussion (Italy), and 'Newsbeat (Canada) magazines. I have taught drums and piano for 21 years! My style is relaxed and I can quickly identify how a student learns. I have taught students with Autism, ADHD, and Asperger's. I have taught at high schools throughout Australia for over 2 decades. I have given drum clinics for the 'Roland' corporation, Sabian cymbals, Tama drums, and Vic Firth sticks. I pride myself on being a great communicator and being able to teach what's inside my head to students of all ages and all levels quickly. I can teach someone who has never played drums before a basic beat in their first 30-minute lesson. I can also teach people their favourite songs on piano in a short amount of time.

The drumset is one of the most important and powerful instruments in a music ensemble. It does not only provide the rhythm and groove foundation for all the other instruments - it also defines the sound of the band, the character of the songs, the volume... just like an orchestra conductor. In these lessons (which are of course personalized and open depending on the interests of the student) we will work beyond the physical/mechanical aspect of the drums (technique, coordination, etc) into the musical aspect, so we will spend some time listening and analyzing music together, working on ear training and music theory from a practical point of view. I am committed to searching and applying different methods to empower and create connections between people through music practices. I strongly believe in creative and participative processes where music can build individual and collective positive changes. I have a long experience as a touring and recording performer, and as a cultural manager of my music projects, also in educational processes in institutions and programmes where I have been able to lead projects in a dynamic and constant dialog with team members and participants.
