Watercolor is a fascinating technique, but it can be demanding and often feels unpredictable. In these in-studio classes, we will approach watercolor as a relationship between water, pigment, and paper. You will learn to predict and control the medium—and, once you've mastered that, to use it more spontaneously. I teach a solid, step-by-step method to build a watercolor painting from the ground up. We will explore a range of techniques (working on dry paper, on wet paper, glazing (velatura), creating textures, etc.) as well as brushstroke fundamentals. Along the way, I'll share practical suggestions and tips I've gathered from my own teachers and years of practice.
