I currently work as an orchestral and chamber musician between the Netherlands and Spain, collaborating with ensembles such as the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, Spanish National Orchestra, and the Basque National Orchestra, among others. I love combining my performing career with teaching, and I have spent several periods teaching at professional conservatories. I'm a graduate of the Mozarteum Salzburg/Austria with the Bachelor and Master Degree and was Principal flutist at the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in Doha/Qatar for 12 years. I have 10+ years experience as a flute and bassoon tutor across multiple schools in Sydney and London, and have recently moved to Berlin. I am able to teach in English only. I work as a freelance bassoonist in London and Berlin, and have worked with major orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Berlin Philharmonic Karajan Akademie and the Orchestral of the Royal Opera House, London. I graduated with a Master’s degree from Guildhall School of music and drama, London. My teaching experience is extensive. I have taught students between the ages of 3-30. I have put many students through practical musical exams and highly encourage them if desired. My students have a 100% success rate in their exams. As I am currently a performer, teacher and student myself, I am very aware of the balance between hard work and having fun. My name is Sachi, I'm an American-trained flautist, and I'd like to make learning an instrument accessible, fun, and easy for musicians of all ages and abilities. I am a 3rd year student at the University of Bath, but I first picked up music when I was 12. Growing up in America, I had the opportunity to participate in marching band, concert bands, wind ensembles, and orchestras. However, it was only when I began taking private lessons that I realized how incredible and transformative music can be. My lessons instilled a sense of discipline, confidence, and love for the arts that I would now like to share with you. This course begins with the basics, but can be adjusted for whatever level you are at! Items on the course include: - Flute set up: hand position and stability - Beginner's guide to reading music - Sight-reading - Tone and the 'sweet spot' - Breathing - From Classical to Baroque to Modern and everything in between! - Flute music from around the world - Extended techniques (singing and playing, harmonics) - ABRSM prep If you have any questions feel free to get in touch. I offer music theory lessons grades 1-5 to prepare for the ABRSM exams. I also offer flute lessons for grades 1-8, either in preparation for exams or just for fun. I teach piano grades 1-3 and the recorder. My lessons are friendly and relaxed and I am very patient.

My goal is to provide the student with the basic practical knowledge of the transverse flute, from level 0. Such things as learning to hold the instrument, learning to make sound from it and eventually, of course, playing small exercises and pieces. With this base, the student will feel gradually more at ease with the instrument, and gain his/her independence. The method I use is the same I studied when I started playing, as a young child, in the National Conservatory of Lisbon. Althouth this method serves as a guide, I will adapt my classes to the needs and goals of each student.
