My name is Matleena and I’m a classical pianist from Finland, living in Tallinn. I have a Master’s degree from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and I have been teaching piano since 2012. I love teaching, meeting new people and sharing music with the world. I teach students of all ages and I’m always looking for creative ways to make the learning experience interesting. Learning piano can add so much value to one’s life and it’s never too late to start. I will adjust the lessons to every student’s needs and wishes. I have a soloist diploma in violin performance and many years of experience in teaching all levels. I have played in many different professional orchestras in Estonia and abroad.
Recently I moved back to Estonia and would love to continue my teaching here as well. It has brought a lot of joy and excitement for my students to learn the violin and for me as well, teaching is one of the things that I really love to do.
I focus on building up a strong technique, a warm singing sound and personal expression in music.
I have been teaching in Estonian and in English, both fluent.

I believe that anyone can learn music and piano in different stages of life with different goals and that this requires a commited, passionate, adaptable and akwnoledged teacher. In my years of education, since I began playing the piano, and later followed the professional path; I’ve seen and encountered uncountable situations being both student and teacher that made me highly value the teacher’s role and aimed to incorporate it in my career development.

My previous experiences in the field include regular private teaching, individual and in music academies during two-three years in Barcelona to students either kids, teenagers or adults (presential and online). I have also prepared music entrance examinations to public schools and conservatòries in Catalonia, covering piano lessons and music theory lessons.

The added values that I can bring are experience in reinforcement teaching in high school subjects, coaching solo musicians when accompanying them and accompanying and leading choirs. Hello to all aspiring musicians! I have been teaching violin for over 10 years and have masters in violin pedagogy. Love to share my love for music and violin, no matter how old you are! We can have lessons either at my home in Tallinn or via video call. I’m comfortable in teaching either Estonian or English, my German is rusty but could try to get that one going aswell!

In my first years of music training I was always wondering what I was playing. Why this note works better with this other note, why this part returns in the end of the piece but with different chords. In this course I would like to share what I have learned so far about composition and harmony. Jazz harmony it's possible but my education is strictly classical
