You'll learn how to use the voice in the proper way, starting by your natural speech and developing it to find your own sound. I have experience in both Pop and Jazz styles (a Bachelor in Jazz Singing and a degree in Jazz Composition), so it's possible to study songs from both this repertoires. I also give Music Theory Lessons, to make the student develop his/her own style and musical sensibility and, in the case of Jazz, to know how to improvise on different chord changes and jazz styles.

About Me

Singing is one of the best ways to express yourself, and it's something very natural. It really helps people getting more in contact with themselves, and for children, it helps building selfconfidence, discipline and gives fun and happiness. That's why I always start from the student's experience, feelings and demands. I have ten years experience with students of all ages, from 4 years old children to seniors.

Education

I studied Cinema music and Theatre at the University of Pisa, getting a summa cum laude bachelor. I studied Jazz Singing in the Conservatoire of Livorno (Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Pietro Mascagni), getting a summa cum laude bachelor. I studied Jazz Composition and Big Band Arranging, getting a summa cum laude Degree.

Experience / Qualifications

I have taught in private schools and in the Italian public school, individual lessons and group lessons. I have ten years experience as teacher and fifteen years experience as performer of Jazz and Pop music, and as Big Band Conductor and Arranger.
I have attended many masterclasses all over Europe about singing techniques and Jazz Music, and Italian masterclasses about pedagogy, teaching to children and didactics. As composition student I studied classic music, theory, harmony and ear training.

My name is Ben (26), and I'm a certified drum teacher with about 15 years of experience behind the kit. Previously I have studied jazz drums at Kunstuniversitat of Graz. Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht.

My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons.

In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student.

As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student.

Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. So I can help you with singing too!

I have been studying opera and classical singing since the age of 12, as well as jazz, choral, and musical theater singing. I have been performing in musicals since 2015.
These studies have given me a wealth of tools to adapt to what each student needs and wants, because the most important thing is that we never stop enjoying music.

My classes are based on three core principles. The first is having a clear method, rooted in the real functioning of the voice—its physiology (what science tells us about how we use the body to sing)—and applicable to anyone, step by step, with logic. I always prioritize the student’s vocal health and rely on scientifically proven methods. I use simple language, without unnecessary technicalities, so everything is easy to understand and makes sense.

The second is the emotional and psychological aspect. For me, connecting with the person in front of me is essential—understanding how they think, how they perceive themselves, what blocks them, and what motivates them. This way, I can adapt the classes to their personality and goals. I try to create a relaxed environment based on respect, trust, and a little humor, where everyone feels free and comfortable. We aren’t all born with the voice we wish we had, but we can all develop what we do have—and on that journey, singing becomes a way to know and accept yourself better.

And the third is the dedication and professionalism with which I approach this work, which I am truly passionate about.

All classes are divided into a warm-up and vocalization section, followed by work on a chosen piece suited to the student’s level and preferred style. Regardless of style or level, a foundation in classical singing will always be established.
