Folklore from the south of the world – Music Lesson I am Chilean and I am fan and player of the music of the southern cone: Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. Specifically I can help you learn tango, cueca, milonga, murga, boleros and tonadas. To a lesser extent I can help to learn Afro-Peruvian and bossa nova. The lessons I offer can include musical practice, rhythms, progressions and typical melodies, as well as the study of the history of the musical genres and the culture associated with them. If you want to nurture your career as a musician with other genres or if you are an amateur musician with an interest in music from the south of the world, these lessons are for you. If you are not a musician and simply want to approach the study of the culture, I can also provide books, articles and videos relating to it. I would love to contribute to the further dissemination of this folklore that I love so much.

Myself: I have 23 years of experience playing the saxophone and around 15 years of teaching experience, working with both children and adults, beginners, and more experienced players. I believe that, in addition to teaching, it is essential to remain an active and performing musician to ensure that the approach remains fresh and relevant, which I am. I specialise in jazz improvisation, but these skills are transferable to any style you may wish to learn. The primary goal is to become proficient on the saxophone with a strong and beautiful sound, while also mastering the fundamentals. Furthermore, learning music is a joyous and enriching experience, and I am here to help facilitate that. I am also a graduate of the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam as well as Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London). The Lessons: Whether you're a total beginner, looking to refresh your skills, or aiming to progress further, I'm here to help you at every step of your saxophone journey. With experience teaching students of all ages and abilities, my main goal is to ensure that every lesson is enjoyable and tailored to your specific goals and motivations. Specialising in improvisation, I also offer instruction in harmony, music theory, and composition. Overall, my goal is to help you produce a beautiful and personal sound on the saxophone. I take pride in adapting my teaching approach to suit your learning style, ensuring that all information is manageable and understandable at your own pace. I am fully committed to ensuring that the space is welcoming and friendly, as well as being approachable for any thoughts or feelings you may have about the lessons and your progress. Lessons are held at my home in Amsterdam Oost and can be scheduled for 45 minutes, 1 hour, or 1.5 hours. Ideally, we meet weekly or fortnightly to maintain momentum, but I'm also available for occasional top-up lessons.

I give nice assignments and provide fun exercises, with which you can learn in a playful way, I also give evaluations and reports so that the motivation and enthusiasm remain. Every student receives a reward from me so that the learning atmosphere remains optimal.

Music theory is often the most neglected aspect of a student's education, whether due to the usual lack of methodology from their teachers (who themselves may not have learned it well), or because of the perceived lack of practical application during its study. Yet, for both music students and professional musicians, a solid understanding of music theory is essential: the concepts of harmony, for example, allow for improved reading of sheet music, enabling students to see multiple notes within a vertical chord as a single entity rather than a collection of notes to be read individually. I therefore offer a course in music theory, more specifically in tonal and modal harmony, for those wishing to learn more about the true understanding of music. During this course, you will learn how the notes of different scales are formed, the intervals and chords they generate, the use of three- and four-note chords, and many other harmonic tools that will help you refine your understanding, reading, and playing of music.

What is the lesson content? -Amateur level: In this level, piano is played as a hobby. The repertoire is prepared together in line with the student's wishes and level. No specific piano book is required. Students are encouraged to compose their own music if they wish. In this way, they acquire the ability to write music on a lined notation paper. Sight reading practices, solfeggio training, basic music theory and terminology studies, discussions of music history are included lessons. -Professional level: This level generally includes preparing for piano competitions, the examinations and the certificate/diploma programs of music-oriented education institutions such as London College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, various of conservatories and music schools. The lessons mostly cover the playing of the pieces in the specific repertoire list determined by these music institutions. Ear training lessons are given for admission exams of instrument departments which aim to measure the 'musical ear'. This level is more focused on Western Classical Music. It includes harmony education and reviews of musicological articles. How long is the lesson? Lesson durations are adapted to age groups specifically by considering physical and mental developmental processes. *Durations can be rearranged according to the student's concentration regardless of age. Where is the lesson? The lessons are held either at the teacher's house in Kåbo or on Zoom with students who already have a piano background. *In exceptional and mandatory cases, some lessons can also be held at the student's house, if there is a piano. When is the lesson? A fixed day and time is determined jointly according to the weekly schedules of the student and the teacher. Which language are the lessons taught in? The lessons are given in English.

I have a deep passion for music ever since I started playing 16 years ago, and would like to share it with you! Bass is the best! And I want to help you uncover it's full potential. I believe the best way to learn music is to study what you love, and always work from a place of curiosity and passion. Therefore, we will always look together for ways of making the process the most enjoyable and tackle different topics through the music YOU love. The classes are tailored to each individual student: we find the best workflow for you, and adapt the lessons. If you need structure and a clear program, I can provide that; but if you prefer to keep it loose and see as we go, it's all good. All that matters is your continued motivation and progress. Among other things, we can focus on: -Basic technique on the instrument -Learning songs of your choice, with a method that will allow you to learn songs by yourself later on. -Learn about different styles: Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Metal, Jazz... -Develop your understanding of music through the instrument (scales, arpeggios...) -Creativity, and improvisation through the use of the material we have studied together -Ear training and music theory -Rhythm, all the way from basic to very advanced -Basic compositional techniques, or fun ways to start composing I have been teaching privately for the past 6 years, with very happy students. I can also teach online if it's better, I also have regular online students with whom we are making great progress. For the lesson, there is no need to bring an instrument: I can lend you one. Feel like picking up a new hobby? Want to refresh your knowledge? Looking for a new way to be creative? Why not learn how to read and write music - who knows, maybe you're a composer at heart? I have created a seven step program that takes you through the basics and teaches how to recognize clefs, range, and expands the limits of possibilities. While day 1 is an introduction on the build of music and what notes are, by day 5 you already understand how key signatures work and how to write down a tune that you hear somewhere. Or, maybe, you have an instrument and always wanted to be able to pick up a piece of music and be able to play it? Or, perhaps, it is time to become the composer and notate your creations to better remember and share? Whatever it might be, learning to read and write music gives you a new, exciting skill and opens a door to a whole new world!

Hi everyone! My name is Curragh and I am a guitar teacher from the UK. Learning an instrument is hugely rewarding and a great investment, one that I believe is accessible to anyone. Perhaps you're intrigued by the guitar and want to give it a go... maybe you are a parent looking to relax for an hour and have fun or enrich your child’s development and give them a skill they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. I am a lifelong lover of music with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Guitar from Leeds Conservatoire and a BTEC diploma with distinction in Music Practice. I have played in many different ensembles and have attended the Bath International Guitar Festival in the UK, on a scholarship. My teaching philosophy is that the ears are just as important to train as the hands and I integrate this into my lessons. It is also important to enjoy playing and feel excited by it, however, as this is the best motivator for students! It's how I learned after all... I am happy to teach absolute beginners through to advanced students, ages 7 and up. If you have a particular style of music you are interested in or some favorite songs you've always wanted to learn, we can cover them! If you are more advanced and want to bring your playing to the next level, I can coach you so you develop your unique 'voice' on the instrument and have a technique to burn.
