Acting and performance skills can help you in many walks of life. It's about building confidence and getting comfortable within your own voice and body, as well as understanding text and character. Using my background in English Literature and New Writing, and my Masters in Drama Directing from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School; I will tailor classes to each students particular needs and goals. Working closely with students on textual clarity, vocal technique, characterisation and confidence is my speciality. You might need some 1-2-1 assistance with a monologue or understanding a playtext better, you might want some help with audition prep or advice on self-tapes, or you might just want to build your confidence and strength in public speaking. Do you want to learn how to design characters, be they realistic, cartoon, anime or comic? Do you want to learn the fundamentals of art so that you can apply them to any medium, be it physical or digital? Do you want to learn how to use digital art programs so that you can apply it anywhere? Well this class is for you. From structure, anatomy, perspective, lines, color, silhouette, exaggeration and language of forms, are some of the fundamentals that you will learn in this class. You can learn on paper and pencil or using digital programs such as Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate or HiPaint.

Approach to Teaching – I favor a structured approach. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catering to the student's specific needs. – Academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with. – I employ a seminar-style format. I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary. I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing gaps, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises. – I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli. Lesson Structure – Academic lessons tend to be 45 minutes to an hour in length, but I can adapt my teaching schedule to provide students with additional support if needed. – Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters to a student's requirements. Academic Credentials – I am a candidate for a Ph.D. in Music at the University of Cambridge. – I hold an MPhil in Music from the University of Cambridge, where I specialized in Historical Musicology and Musical Aesthetics. – I have a first-class music degree (74.4%) from the University of Manchester, where I won three Hargreaves Prizes for Academic Achievement. – I have worked as an Assistant Music Teacher, which involved teaching Music A-Level students. Professional Credentials – I have worked as a private violin teacher for 7 years (since I was 17). I have taught a variety of students, from beginners starting their instrumental training to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills. – I have an extensive portfolio of performing credits on documentary films.
