Trusted teacher: My name is Anita, and I am a neurodivergent interdisciplinary artist. I combine traditional and unconventional teaching methods with an innovative approach, adapted to the fast-paced era we live in, where attention spans can be short. My teaching integrates principles of psychology to better understand each student’s unique needs and aspirations. My goal is to nurture visionary children who have strong foundational values and a humble sense of self. I believe that true artistic mastery comes from human excellence. Also, in this way, students develop true self-confidence by evaluating their success based on personal progress rather than comparing themselves to others. This course is especially recommended for neurodivergent children (with Autism Level 1 - Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Hypersensitivity, and Anxiety) with multiple interests who struggle to choose, focus on, and manage various subjects. It helps develop both technique and discipline, enabling them to navigate multiple creative fields—essentially putting their eggs in several baskets while honing the skills necessary for diverse career opportunities in an uncertain job market. The program encourages a generalist mindset, promoting versatility without compromising creative integrity. Students will learn to refine their Zoom In/Zoom Out perspective, gaining the ability to see both the bigger picture and the finer details of any subject. The program's structure guides the individuals through three essential phases: Exploration Phase–Presentations, visual games, and foundational lessons introduce students to various disciplines, helping them discover their interests. Development Phase–They start defining their creative goals, practicing their skills, and trying out various artistic approaches. Mastery Phase - With a clear direction, students focus on long-term goals, whether as brand-focused professionals, university students, or future educators. Disciplines covered include architecture, painting, illustration, concept design (especially for gaming), traditional animation, digital art, children's book illustration, film, creative writing, and music (the art of songwriting). A Purposeful, Transparent Approach I work closely with each student, providing honest yet supportive evaluations to help identify their strengths. My goal is to guide serious and passionate learners and not to mislead families into unnecessary expenses. I strive to be straightforward in a respectful and encouraging manner, communicating if a child may not be suited for this path. A Valuable Investment in Thinking & Creativity Even if a student ultimately chooses a non-artistic career, this course fosters critical and creative thinking, which are essential skills for any field. The knowledge gained here is never wasted; it’s an investment in adaptability, innovation, and problem-solving abilities that transcend the arts. PROGRAM OVERVIEW Course & Workshop – Studio Art & Theory Sessions (60–180 min) ■ First Session – A Complimentary Introduction The first session offers an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a collaborative relationship. ■ Online classes They will primarily focus on theory and presentation or homework/portfolio reviews. Each session lasts 30-40 minutes, followed by 15-20 minutes for questions and answers. These sessions are recorded, allowing students to revisit the content whenever they wish, ensuring long-term access to valuable insights. Throughout the course, we track progress, examining both strengths and areas for growth. ■ Progress Evaluation and Personalized Feedback • Monthly Evaluation Files An evaluation file will be provided each month, summarizing the child’s progress, highlighting what they have learned, and identifying areas to improve. This file is printed, and the child will need a designated folder to store these evaluations. • Personality Profiling A personalized profile will be created for each student, outlining their traits, preferences, and potential areas for exploration. Together, we will set small, temporary goals to work toward a larger, more defined purpose. This profile will be revisited and updated annually to reflect the student's growth and changing needs during their developmental phase. ■ Parent Support Program A structured, phased program is designed specifically for parents, with regular updates (every 3 months) that outline: • Exploration Phase: Discovering interests and potentials. • Clarification Phase: Understanding immediate goals for the upcoming weeks. • Commitment Phase: Focusing on long-term pursuits over several months. This modular approach ensures that the program evolves with the child’s development without overwhelming families with an all-at-once structure. ■ Rewards and Additional Activities Students earn symbolic rewards for their achievements, reflecting various aspects of their learning journey. Additionally, upon mutual agreement, I can offer post-session baking workshops (or on weekends) with healthy recipes and customized meal options (taking into account specific dietary needs or intolerances), reinforcing the importance of self-care and nutrition. ■ Homework and Scheduling Homework will be personalized to fit the student’s schedule, considering both school and extracurricular activities, as well as their personal productivity style. Some of them may be more analytical and observant, while others are naturally more productive. I believe that productivity can bloom at any stage, and my goal is to avoid a “factory mindset.” Reflective moments are as crucial as those focused on tangible output. ■ Recommendations I offer customized recommendations for books, movies, documentaries, artists, and art styles, ensuring that each resource is tailored to the student's personal interests and developmental stage to maximize engagement and understanding. ■ Introducing Rhetorics and Dialectics (friendly definitions for complex topics - included in Commitment Phase) Rhetorics, particularly oratory, along with dialectics (the art of argumentation), are essential tools for expressing ideas clearly and persuasively. These skills are important not only in speech and writing but also in visual arts. They help create overall coherence by ensuring that every element of a project—whether it’s a painting, sculpture, or multimedia presentation—conveys a well-structured message. ■ Special Focus: Empowering Neurodiverse Learners In my teaching practice, I place a strong emphasis on engaging neurodiverse children through a range of visual and auditory games that stimulate multiple areas of intelligence. These activities include: • Pattern Recognition: Exercises that encourage students to identify and predict patterns, sharpening their analytical and problem-solving skills. • Visual and Auditory Memory Games: Interactive tasks designed to boost both visual and auditory memory, ensuring that information is effectively retained. • Synesthetic Activities: Creative exercises that blend sensory experiences—such as pairing colors with sounds—to enhance perceptual awareness. • Multiple Intelligences: Tailored tasks that address various types of intelligence, including spatial, logical, musical, kinesthetic, and interpersonal skills. ■ A Personal Touch on Wellbeing Understanding the importance of nutrition, I offer healthy, ready-to-eat meals for students who might miss a meal before or after school. Drawing from my experiences with nutritional challenges during adolescence, I know how important it is to support overall well-being. This small gesture is part of my commitment to care for the whole individual—mind, body, and spirit—ensuring no one is left hungry while pursuing their creative and academic goals.

Trusted teacher: Hi! I'm Naomi, a visual artist, curator, and art educator (courses and workshops) with a focus on painting and drawing. You can find my art and more information about my practice at 'www.naomimakkelie.nl'. As an experienced artist and art educator in the form of Painting Workshops at Treehouse NDSM, I offer a unique approach to art education. My background in art studies at HKU, a year of Psychology at UvA, and the rich teaching experiences of my family form the foundation of my teaching method. I possess an in-depth knowledge of contemporary painting and techniques, far removed from the conventional painting courses that often limit themselves to replicating models or still lifes. I am eager to share these modern insights to prepare you for a future in the current art world, which is a crucial part of the admission process to art academies. In my career, I have explored the power of personal expression through art, both in my own work and in guiding aspiring artists. My experience ranges from conducting workshops at Treehouse NDSM to developing my own Art Practice, where I exhibit and display my work, and of course, spend a significant amount of time creating my art. However, there's so much more involved, which many art academies unfortunately don't pay much attention to, such as promoting your work through Social Media, your Website, and applications for prizes and grants. I won the Buning Brongers Prize in 2018, and was nominated that same year for the Royal Prize for Modern Painting and the Dooyewaard Stipendium. I can also guide you in applying for grants, prizes, and other types of applications, help you write Artist Statements and Project Plans (for grants), and of course, with the writing part of the application to art academies. I can also provide information more focused on the art practice, building your own business. In today's times, this gives many self-taught artists the opportunity to set up an art practice through the internet and entrepreneurial skills, with an online shop selling (limited-edition or open-edition) prints of their paintings or drawings, and amazingly, many artists are able to earn a decent income this way, with some going viral on platforms like Instagram and suddenly becoming world-famous. This is not something that happens quickly or often, but it does represent a significant shift in the Contemporary Art World, which previously was much harder to establish your own business and art practice, making the artist much more dependent on representation by a Gallery. My lessons focus on (re)discovering the joy of making art. I believe that every individual has a unique creative process, and that in art, there is no right or wrong. With my extensive knowledge of people, I can tailor guidance and coaching to meet the needs and interests of each student. Whether it's about building an impressive portfolio, exploring pre-courses, or navigating the choices of art academies and directions, I'm ready to share my expertise. Also, having studied at various Academies in the Netherlands (KABK, HKU, and Frank Mohr Institute (Master of Fine Arts) but also being admitted to the foundation year of Rietveld, which I chose not to pursue, I can explain exactly what the different expectations are of each Academy, which can vary considerably. Each Academy has its own approach and philosophy. In my workshops and personal coaching sessions, you'll learn not only the essential skills of the trade but also how to further develop your own style. This includes professionally stretching canvases and applying contemporary painting techniques that are essential for successful admission to the art academy. I am a professional painter and draughtsman, but can guide you in almost any medium and material. Located in the bright and inspiring studio at Treehouse NDSM, or on location in Amsterdam (with a possible travel expense reimbursement outside Amsterdam), I offer an environment where creativity and individual expression are central. Are you ready to elevate your artistic skills, rediscover the joy of art creation, build a portfolio for admission to an art academy, and prepare for the admission process to greatly increase your chances of being admitted? I can also explore with the student which Academy best suits him/her, having experience with multiple academies, I can look together with the student at what best fits them, and provide enough information about what it's like at an art academy to reduce the chance of dropping out early due to a 'wrong picture' of what it's like at an academy. For more information, contact me about my offerings and how I can support you in your unique creative development and discovering where your talents lie!

Diana knows a lot about photography and post-production. I really liked the lessons: there was a bit of theory (e.g. how the camera actually works) and then I learnt by trial and error with her. It was very nice, relaxed and enjoyable lessons. I highly reccomend!
