From Matisse to Ai Weiwei. A survey in the art of our times. This is a course about 20th and 21st-century western art built-in 10 hourly sessions and 3 sections. We will follow the 20th-century art from Impressionism up to today polymorphic art. In the 1st section of 5 lessons, we will examine the western art from 1900-1960. In the 2nd section of 3 lessons, we will talk about 1960-2000 art. In the 3rd section of 2 lessons, we will look at 21st-century art. Sessions can be adjustable regarding your special interests. We will talk about movements, theories, famous great artists and works as well as unappreciated and unacknowledged but important ones. We will focus on the social-political background of each period, science, philosophy and psychoanalysis and their impact in artistic creativity. We will discuss modernism, structuralism and post-structuralism, abstract, conceptual and minimal art, pop art, performance, fluxus and happenings, feminist and activistic art, postmodernism and contemporary movements. We will examine famous exhibitions, interactions with music, literature and pop culture, globalization and post-colonialist approaches. After each course, I will send you a rich interdisciplinary bibliography and filmography that will help deepen in the issues we’ll be discussing.

The class will focus on contemporary art (from impressions to nowadays). The lecture will be interactive and will engage the younger students with some "games" to learn. Every 3 sessions I will organise a small workshop for the student, in order to understand if they are on track or not. Moreover, the workshops aim to keep them involved and to facilitate their compression on the subject. Finally, at the end of the program I will do a small test (if the client requires it) that will cover all the arguments. If the parents wants we can discuss the program and the specifics of their child.

I am a university graduate in Art History and I teach art history classes online or at home, at the student's preference, in Madrid. My classes are aimed at anyone who wishes to reinforce, review, organize or expand their knowledge of art history, particularly those students who are resisting the subject in high school. The contents that I will teach are organized chronologically and I will base myself, in addition to my own knowledge acquired in my degree and master's degree, on a bibliography that is as complete and updated as possible. The classes will be structured in three parts: the first, theoretical, where I will explain the matter to be treated in said class; the second, more practical, where I will carry out a series of practical exercises with the student; and the third, questions and comments. All this following a light and pleasant dynamic, being flexible, always attending and adapting to the specific needs and requests of the student. One of my passions is to teach others to look, as they have taught me, so I enjoy sharing my knowledge with the students in whom I hope to inspire a desire to know.

Fine Art can be a confusing, and often inaccessible subject. However, creating and engaging with art can also be empowering once you have the understanding of contemporary art practises. It is my intention to engage both children and adults in creative play, and discussion, to create exciting lessons. Lessons will often be tailored towards the individual's interests, linking them to relevant artists and artistic practises. A wide range of materials and processes will be explored in the lessons, including painting, drawing, sculpture and digital art, allowing students to find their strengths. As a Fine Art and History of Art graduate it truly is my passion to ignite, distill, and grow a person's interests in Art, Design and Art History. I have experience in creating and teaching lessons for students of all ages, from 4 years of age up to adults. I also have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students in the trickier aspects of a Fine Art qualification, where jumping through the hoops and tick the boxes that the exam boards require can often take the joy out of creating. My aim is to help students get the grade that truly reflects their engagement and enthusiasm for art, guiding them through the certain requirements that can often feel confusing or frustrating. This course is for anyone who is interested in art and wants to learn more about its history and appreciation in a fun and engaging way. Through interactive online visits to world-famous museums, such as the Prado in Madrid and London's National Gallery, you will see celebrated works of art in fine detail and learn the stories behind their creation. You will learn about the different styles, periods, genres and the historical contexts of celebrated masterpieces, as well as the artists who created them.

The extended project is a very large and complex task without proper guidance and mentoring. I was lucky enough to receive a brilliant mentor when completing my own, and was a big factor in how I achieved the A grade. Through these sessions the student can share with me their ideas for the EPQ, and I can guide them through all aspects of the process from the activity log to the dissertation itself. I welcome all ideas and projects art related as it is my speciality, but I am open to other subjects too!
