My teaching approach focuses on creating a positive, supportive and motivating atmosphere where students feel comfortable learning at their own pace while building confidence through practical music-making. As a professional musician, composer and teacher with more than 20 years of teaching experience, including in Switzerland, help students develop both strong musical foundations and genuine enjoyment in playing music. My background includes studies with flamenco guitarist Julia Banzi while at Reed College, which has enriched my approach to technique and musical expression. I graduated in classical guitar at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Seville (Spain) and in music pedagogy and Master in Music and Performance at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg (Germany).
I have teaching experience in public and private schools and conservatories in Spain and Germany. Currently, I combine concert activity with teaching guitar and ukulele online. The guitar lessons are partly theory and partly practice. During the first guitar lesson I first look at the starting level. This is different for each guitar student. You can follow guitar lessons for both the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar. With electric guitar lessons, developing your own sound using guitar effects is also part of the guitar lesson.

Hello! My name is Jen and I am a session guitar and bass guitar player with over 10 years of professional experience. I have performed in a wide variety of bands, playing genres such as pop, rock, soul, jazz and folk, and using techniques like finger-style, slap, palm muting and picking. It is so important for people of all ages to learn new skills and discover methods of self expression - playing an instrument can be a gateway to enhancing children's development and future life skills. This is why I am so enthusiastic about teaching music to kids but also to anyone wanting to learn. I will listen to their needs and goals and personalise the process for each individual ensuring they get the most out of these sessions. I am eager to share and teach my knowledge of these wonderful instruments and inspire my students to have fun whilst playing and in turn, excel as a musician and performer! I also teach music theory as it is a pivitol part of understanding the instrument at harder levels.
