I am an expert in training the voice to perform classically and operatically, and can help any student prepare for vocal examinations, grades, exams, GCSE Music (vocal instrument) or simply to sing for themselves - just for fun! A little about me... I am Grade 8 RCM Classically Trained, receiving Distinction in my final examinations. I am also a Royal School of Church Music scholar and a graduate of Oxford University, where I sang as a choral scholar at Trinity College Oxford. I have extensive experience singing with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Chorus: incl. international tours, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmonia, live on BBC Proms opening night and penultimate night alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra. I am a professional freelance opera singer currently performing with English Touring Opera and the National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, among others. I trained at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, have been singing my whole life, and was brought up by two professional orchestral musicians with a strong background in music theory, sight-singing, and aural training. Hello, fellow singers and potential students! My name is Victoria and I'm a trained classical singer with twenty five years of experience performing, writing and teaching. I currently work as a professional soprano with choral quartet Sonare, with whom I am about to start our third concert tour. A typical lesson will begin with body stretches and vocal warm-ups, as well as learning how to set the body up correctly for performing. We'll then move on to studying the pieces you would like to learn; I will be more than happy to work with you on repertoire if you are unsure of where you’d like to start. I'm familiar with the ABRSM exam board, having taken numerous exams with them, and would be happy to study towards one of their grades if this is something you feel you'd like to achieve. Wherever your starting point is, my aim is for you to enjoy learning to sing, to do so in a safe and supported way, and to feel happy and confident in the skills you'll acquire.
