Billy Joel said, "I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music." This, too, is something I believe in, and I wish to share my own love of music with prospective students. I offer violin, voice, and piano lessons to students of all ages. Lessons range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on student's level. I believe in meeting students where they are at, so we will work together to find goals and objectives that suit you. (Or, if you have no goals and simply want to make some noise, that's good too!) I hope to inspire students to find their own voices and delve into their creativity.

About Me

Hello! I am a music teacher living in Ontario, Canada. I believe in meeting students where they're at, working together to set goals that are both engaging and challenging. In my students, I aim to foster a curiosity and eagerness to learn, an ability to break down challenges, and the desire to share their creativity.

My goal as a teacher is ultimately to help students teach themselves, hoping that they will one day be able to be their own guide through careful listening and self-analysis. I hope to give students tools that they can take with them through not only their musical journey but also other areas of life.

My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.
My experience runs mostly in early and chamber music, nevertheless I also have the experience and knowledge of popular musical styles such as Latin-American folk, jazz and musicals.
As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborated with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs.

My main goal is to help the student discover her or his voice while enjoying making music.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts.
