This actually favors children with perfect pitch, and those who do not have it remain behind. What a pity ! But I was passionate and so I looked for other ways to develop my listening skills. I studied Indian music, I followed the teachings of American, German, Swiss teachers... And finally by practicing ancient music, I discovered ancient music theory. The latter is the one which provides the real bases from which all Western music arises. Counterpoint and harmony, everything became clearer to me. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.
