Piano/Keyboard Lessons in the Hague

Piano/Keyboard Lessons in the Hague

Piano Lessons in The Hague Learning to play the piano is not only an incredibly useful skill but also an enjoyable and fulfilling process. The instrument can be a gateway to understanding and experiencing music, which is why I believe the piano should be made available to everyone. Children and Adults If you have a child or know someone who has developed an interest in learning the piano, you'd like to learn it as a second instrument, or you are a working professional who just fancies trying something new, I'd be happy to get you started on your musical journey. What to expect? You can learn how to read music, understand simple music theory, play simple chords and scales, develop your own creativity, and can focus on playing some classical/jazz/pop pieces and even work towards taking online performance exams. I will develop enjoyable lessons tailored specifically to you. Making the first steps In the beginning, the piano can be very overwhelming! I take a lot of time on the basics as there is always a lot to learn and take in. I use a variety of beginner method books and resources to help you build your confidence in understanding the piano itself, developing your coordination skills, learning to understand the musical notes on the page, developing your musical ear, and understanding basic music theory. Jazz - Pop - Classical After having covered the basics of piano playing, theory, and reading skills, many of my students move on to playing classical, jazz, blues, or pop pieces, practicing scales and finger exercises as well as further strengthening their sight-reading skills. Improvising Or if you perhaps wish to get away from notes written down on the page I can help you develop your own creativity by understanding theory and applying it to chordal playing, composing and improvising, and playing by ear. Practical Lessons From the age of 12, I had classical piano lessons and have always studied the piano as a secondary instrument to the trumpet. I continue to play piano as a hobby and during my studies at the conservatory, I developed an interest in jazz piano playing. You can therefore feel confident that no matter what your interest may be (perhaps you haven't figured this one out yet), I can give you high-quality fun, and enjoyable training in your own interests. No Piano yet? There are a lot of options and things to consider when working out how to get hold of or buy a keyboard/piano which can be confusing and sometimes stressful! I am happy to give advice to ensure the choice you make is right for you. Online Lessons For the last couple of years, I have been teaching lots of students online. Many have found this way not only to be very suitable but actually their preferred style of learning. Sometimes nothing can be better and simpler than learning in the comfort of your own home. As a teacher, I often find the best solution is a mix of both online and live lessons. We can experiment and find the best solution for you. Lesson Location I live in The Hague and teach from my apartment on a Yamaha Acoustic Upright and Electric piano. I'm pretty flexible, so if you're pushed for time or need to work out a better solution, I am happy to travel to another location close by if it's convenient! Get in touch If any of the above sparks your interest for you or a family member, or perhaps you feel like gifting someone you know with some piano lessons, please do get in touch.

PIANO and MUSICAL LANGUAGE teacher, ONLINE and face-to-face classes (Piano Pedagogy Career).

PIANO and MUSICAL LANGUAGE teacher, ONLINE and face-to-face classes (Piano Pedagogy Career).

If there is something that defines me, it is that I love what I do. I consider myself a nice, punctual, patient person and I empathize with my students. Each one has a different situation and I think they are very necessary values in any teacher. I have taught piano and musical language classes in schools with different methodologies in the Valencian Community, Murcia and Andalusia. I currently reside in the town of Vera (Almería). I always try to make the classes entertaining and productive. In younger children, different combinations of activities and dynamism help them move faster and maintain attention. I consider it essential to connect with my students; know their tastes, hobbies, musical qualities and the reasons for wanting to immerse themselves in the world of music. Music is a language and, just like the mother tongue, it must be learned through PRACTICE. For this reason, we will combine the interpretation and musical technique of the piano with the learning of theory, but ALWAYS in an ACTIVE way. Without a doubt, what will make our path through music with the piano FREE of LIMITATIONS will be the acquisition of a good TECHNIQUE; correct body position, fingering, study habits, etc. It's very important! I like to go beyond what is written, investigate the work we are playing, see and analyze the interpretations that can be given to the different passages... The goal is to learn to ENJOY everything that is interpreted. Any age is good to start playing the piano!! Enthusiasm is what is most needed.

Cello, Piano and Music lessons in Utrecht Centrum. All levels and different genres!

Cello, Piano and Music lessons in Utrecht Centrum. All levels and different genres!

My goal as a music teacher is to make the students able to experience all types of emotions by playing music, understanding the musical process from its roots with a creative approach. My lessons are designed according to the specific needs of each student and the main objective is to guide them in the optimal direction to achieve their full potential in a fun way. Thereby, the instrument becomes a tool to understand what making music really means and will be a way for the student to express his emotions. My approach to the lessons can provide a lot of creativity, fun and originality. How will my lessons look like From the first lesson, the student will start making music. We will begin learning the basic concepts of music, developing listening and rhythmic skills with fun exercises. Lessons will also be focused on learning the basics of music theory, creating a solid technical base and paying special attention to having a relaxed and healthy body posture. My academic and professional experience has helped me create a teaching method where improvisation is an essential tool for the student. I enjoy working on it from the beginning since it is a perfect way to develop musicality. Playing different music genres together As a musician, another of my sources of inspiration is to get to know and to learn from different styles, playing and experimenting with music from the classical period until the most avant-garde style. During the lessons, we will play pop, jazz, classical and many other styles. I would like to explore the instrument with the student in a fun way, growing, improving, and discovering new ways of making music together. During the lessons the students and I could play together, either playing some duos with the cello or accompanying them with the piano, which is an activity that I really enjoy. Playing together with more people and with a polyphonic instrument from the beginning will give the student clues to learn how to play in ensembles and listen to all the different voices that can be part of any musical composition.

“ Maria is a very good teacher. I am an intermediate level student, so I was looking for someone who can give me nuanced feedback. Maria is really good at doing this, and helps with the tone and style of playing by leveraging her knowledge of violin, but also history of music, and the different styles. She pays a lot of attention in promoting dynamism and color when playing, so you get to make music instead of mechanically going through the score. She is very friendly and easy to communicate. I recommend her. ”

“ Darlene is a very good piano teacher, my daughter had a piano lesson with her and she was very happy with the progress. We can highly recommend Darlene as a piano teacher to anyone. She is talented, experienced and very hard working with lots of passion! But remember, that rest of hard work and practice you need to do yourself. ”

“ My son had a lovely first French Horn lesson with Jonathan, who immediately put him at ease and clearly showed him the basics of what to do. He has been keen to practice ever since, and is really looking forward to his next lesson! ”
