At the piano we can learn how to play music you love, how to freely improvise (through a practical use of theoretical knowledge of music) and how to write musical thoughs you may have. I am Francesca, 31, italian, i had a strong classical training, and after my academic piano studies i needed to open to jazz and songwriting. My will is to offer a comprehensive and pleasurable approach to music, and to keep the focus on the needs and desires that bring my student close to the piano.

I teach beginner and intermediate lessons in styles such as Rock, Blues, Pop, Bossa Nova, and Jazz. I’m patient and dynamic, adapting to each student’s needs. I always talk with the student to understand what they want to learn and what their goals are — whether they’re learning as a hobby or aiming for a more professional level. I believe a good teacher should adapt to their student. My schedule is flexible (you can keep in touch with me regularly to ask questions, etc).

It is never too late to start or resume learning piano! My teaching experience makes me a witness to this. Perhaps you came looking for piano lessons because you wish to be able to play some particular pieces, or to develop specific skills. Or maybe you don't know what your goal is yet, but are fond of the sound of the piano and want to dive into this wonderful instrument. Whatever the case, I am looking forward to hearing from you and discussing your next step! I try as much as possible to tailor the work with each individual student aiming at the goals set and the student's musical tastes. This becomes more the case the higher the student's level of experience. Nevertheless, beginners are also encouraged to suggest music for themselves to learn. The work on pieces is combined with other important activities designed to develop finger dexterity, hand coordination, rhythmic sense, music reading, playing by ear, etc. The Cortot, Hanon and scale exercises are some of my frequent choices for the technical work. For young beginners, I defend a no-book approach during the first 2 or 3 months, for three main reasons: it makes learning more fun, it unlocks our creative potential and it allows us to explore the instrument rather confidently and freely. Instead of learning how to read right from the start, students have the opportunity to play games, listen to music, sing, compose, and improvise over backing tracks, developing the core skills necessary for any musical activity later on. After this period, it is then time to introduce them to a method book. The one I recommend the most is Piano Safari. For teenage and adult beginners, the activities described above are selected and adjusted, and theory concepts may be introduced at an earlier stage. If desired, graded level series such as the RSL Classical or Contemporary Piano, among others, may be opted for. Please notice that my scheduling may not always be up to date on this website, so the best way to know my availability is sending me a message. Feel free to get in touch for any other questions as well! Looking forward to meeting you soon, Rodrigo

Would you like to start playing the piano, return to it after a break, or develop your skills further? I offer individual piano and music theory lessons tailored to your level, interests, and musical goals. We work on technique, music reading, and interpretation through repertoire suited to your experience. Music theory is connected to practical playing, helping you understand the music you learn. For beginners, the focus is on building solid foundations and gaining confidence at the keyboard. For those who already play, we can explore tone, coordination, phrasing, and specific challenges within the pieces you are studying. I aim to create a relaxed environment where you can ask questions and experiment, with clear explanations and achievable goals. My experience as a concert pianist, teacher, and collaborative pianist allows me to support students with different backgrounds and interests. Lessons are available in person in Lisbon or online, in English, Portuguese, Russian, or Ukrainian. Send me a message telling me about your piano experience and what you would like to learn.

Do you have trouble reading music? Do you love listening to music, but don't understand time signatures, keys or chords? Music theory often sounds abstract, but with the right explanation and concrete examples it suddenly becomes a lot more logical, and even fun :) For whom? - Beginner or advanced musicians who want to better understand what they are doing. - Students preparing for music theory exams (e.g. music school, entrance exams). - Independent artists/producers who want to deepen their musical knowledge. - Anyone who is curious about the language behind music. What can you expect? - Clear explanation, at your own pace. - Theory made immediately applicable with examples on the piano. - Extra attention to insight instead of learning dry rules by heart. - Tutoring fully tailored to your level and goal (classical, pop, songwriting, production, ...). About me I obtained a Grade 8 diploma in Music Theory and also a Grade 8 Piano from the Royal Schools of Music. In addition, I hold a diploma in Audio Engineering from Hofa College. I am active as a music artist and producer myself. Thanks to this combination of classical training and practical experience, I know how important it is to make theory understandable, concrete, and musical. I use my own piano during lessons to clarify everything visually and audibly. Possible topics: - Learn to read music. - Scales, chords & harmony. - Form and analysis (classical, jazz or pop). - Rhythm, time signatures & tempo. - Music theory for producers/songwriters. - Songwriting. - Preparation for exams or entrance tests. Practical - 1-on-1 lessons, online or live (if you don't live too far away). - I provide materials, or we work with what you need. - No prior knowledge required. Lessons adapted to your level. 🎶 Feel free to send me a message with your questions or goals. We'll see how I can best help you.
