Have you ever wanted to learn how to make music on a computer but not known where to start? I specialise in composing and designing sound using various DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations). I am also an adept mixing engineer with a additional knowledge in mastering audio. My goal is to help students learn music production techniques associated with software so that they can realise their own creative ideas. I like to assign work to keep students progressing in their own time. I also provide tutorial sessions, as an opportunity to review progress and define goals. Short story: We'll work in Ableton Live or Pro Tools, going from basic DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) interfaces, hotkeys, start making a track, recording, arrangement, plugins, production, sound design, mix, master and even distribution! Long story: Ever wanted to get into music making? It's easier than ever, with everyone having access to their own desktop or laptop, though the amount of information and tutorials available online makes the whole experience dreadful. In this digital age, what every student misses is actually structure, a guiding hand that know the order of learning all the techniques and applying them in the right way. Feedback is the most important part of learning. My view on teaching is simple: every student is unique, starts off with a certain baggage of information which I need to understand and analyze, so I can to tailor the courses to each individual's needs. Following my class you can get the basics in working with audio the digital realm, find the many choices, jobs and skills associated with each domain or if you're already quite advanced, maybe you're doubting some of the things you learned mechanically along the way and just need a confirmation or an alternate view on things.

I also worked as a peripatetic teacher in a secondary school (Bishop Thomas Grant School) for three years before deciding to make my teaching practice entirely private. I am a professional, touring and performing guitarist and experienced guitar teacher from a family of folk musicians in Scotland. I've been playing the guitar for 15 years and mostly specializing in folk and indie (including fingerstyle guitar) and blues (inspired by Hendrix and Led Zeppelin), both electric and acoustic guitar. I teach children and adults, all abilities from absolute beginners to advanced players, folk, blues, rock and fingerstyle. I like to teach students through a mixture of learning by ear and learning from music, as in my experience this produces the best and most adaptable players! Lessons are charged at € 15/45 minutes and I can travel to you. Lessons can be either electric or acoustic, but I recommend acoustic for absolute beginners at first.

What do you love to listen to? How do you create music that expresses the music that has deeply influenced you? The "how do you create that" is where technique, or music theory, shapes what compels you. There are a variety of techniques because there are a variety of sound possibilities (jazz, rock, classical, etc.). "In order to create that" music in your head, the basics of music have to be learned: pitch and rhythmical relationships. The most basic examples of pitch relationships are melody and harmony. If my availability works, I will gladly take in anyone who desires to explore all the basics and beyond. I am a pro guitar player with 30 years' experience. I play in the US rock band One Eleven Heavy but am based here in Valencia, Spain. I will take you through the basics of guitar playing - forming chord shapes, learning picking and strumming techniques, playing simple songs. Once we have a few basics down, I will start to take you through various scales and modes, enabling you to learn how guitar players construct chords and solos, all of which lead to the ability to write songs. We can start at your level and work at your pace. Each and every learner has her/his own speed and style of learning and that will be fully taken into account. We can devise a programme of learning before you even pick up the guitar to practise. Ideally classes will take place in my home in Náquera, Valencia, as face-to-face work is much more conducive to achievement, but I am also available to educate online via Zoom/Teams. I am not a Spanish speaker, so these classes are primarily for those who speak English. However, we can very likely proceed even if you don't speak English as music is, of course, universal.
