ABOUT ME: Joan Fort (1997) is a Spanish jazz guitarist and composer based in Amsterdam. He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Guitar from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Temple University (Philadelphia). He also coursed the prestigious course Tribeca Jazz Institute in New York in the Fall 2024. During his studies, he trained with world-renowned artists such as Peter Bernstein, Pasquale Grasso, Jesse van Ruller, Dick Oatts, Mike LeDonne, Grant Stewart, Carl Allen and Bruce Barth, among others, gaining a deep understanding of jazz tradition while exploring a more contemporary approach to improvisation. His co-led project, The Dam Jawn, released its debut album Master St. (2023, Challenge Records), featuring jazz legend Dick Oatts. The album, nominated for the Edison Jazz Award 2024, was presented in Europe and India, including performances in Mumbai, Goa, and Bangalore. In July 2024, the group performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival with Jeremy Pelt as a special guest. Later that year, they released their second album, Forward! (2024, Cellar Live). Their third studio album, recently recorded with Jeremy Pelt, is set for release in the Fall 2025. In January 2025, Joan released his first album as a leader, So Far, So Good (Fresh Sound Records), which was showcased during a European tour in May 2025, covering Germany, Spain, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, and France, with jazz icon Vincent Herring on alto saxophone as a special guest. His upcoming second album as leader, Hangin’ In, was recorded in New York with an all-star lineup including Grant Stewart, Michael Weiss, David Wong, Aaron Kimmel, and rising tenor saxophonist Daniel Cohen as a special guest. Besides, he's just recorded another album with his trio and Vincent Herring which will be released next year 2026. Despite his young age, Joan has already built an extensive international career, performing across Europe, the USA, and India alongside world-renowned musicians such as Dick Oatts, Jeremy Pelt, Vincent Herring, Grant Stewart, Jorge Rossy, Bill McHenry, Benjamin Herman, Michael Weiss, Joris Roelofs, Jasper Blom, Rita Payés, Virginia MacDonald, David Wong and Magalí Datzira. Trusted teacher: Hello (future) musician! Do you also have a song in your head that you would like to play? Always wanted to play electric or acoustic guitar or bass guitar? Have you never touched a string, or are you advanced and looking for new challenges? I have been giving guitar lessons since 2007 with great pleasure. In addition to these private lessons, I worked at the Guitar Academy in Amsterdam, at Muziekles Den Bosch and at Art in Music in Utrecht, next to my work as an executive musician. I studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg and Musicology at Utrecht University. Broad interests, reflected in the hoevelheid styles I play and education (from pop and rock to salsa, tango and gypsy to metal and jazz). I also give solfège and music theory. It does not matter how exotic your interest, I can help you get better! In addition, I can choose and arrange songs for you, so that there is no limit to your imagination: learn to play what you want to learn to play. These lessons are not given in a large, impersonal music school: lesson duration and lesson dates are discussed and are flexible. Personal and smooth, easier for everyone. Besides guitar enthusiast teaching is a big passion of mine, and I think that is essential to be able to offer good lessons. Whether I teach you how to play your first songs in a few lessons, or whether we are going to pick up some tough pieces, it is a pleasant and productive learning process. Lessons in Wittevrouwen, Utrecht or at extra cost at home. If you have questions, mail or call!

I decided to enter into the guitar world at age of 35. I found Nikola on this site and I feel lucky since I found the will and the passion I was looking for from time. I was almost sure playing guitar is something you start since you are a kid, but I was wrong. Thank you to Nikola in only 1 lesson at time gave me the right "charge" to go on in this journey. In only one year I see significant results. (I can confess, a lot of hard work from my side :) but the starting moment was decisive). His friendly attitude and his pation is the best attribute I can associate to this teacher. Thank you Nikola!

In just one lesson with Nacho I learned some important new concepts about the guitar that I didn't know before . I especially recommend a lesson for self taught guitarists that want some insight into music theory.
