Although I am classically trained, I started guitar playing rhythmic music, such as nirvana and the beatles, and I still have a deep understanding of the style and have taught it for years. I have a personalised approach to each student, refusing to force them to play exactly as I do, but helping them to refine their own innate technique. To that end, I create my own exercises for my students, compiling the best from the existing literature, and am working to creating my own guitar method book. Hej! I'm Marshall, an Australian violinist currently living and studying in Copenhagen. I have just started the second year of my Masters's degree at The Royal Danish Academy of Music studying with Elisabeth Schneider. Along with my studies, I am a casual violinist with the Aarhus & Göteborg Symphony Orchestras. Prior to moving to Denmark I studied for my bachelor's degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on a full scholarship and have participated in the Mozarteum International Summer Academy. I have been teaching violin/viola since 2015 and in 2020-2021 I was employed by the West Australian Department of Education to teach violin/viola to primary school students. Each and every student is different, so I try and cater to their learning experience. Whether you're a complete beginner or already have experience with the violin/viola, I can help you with your musical journey. In each lesson, I focus on building a strong technical foundation, understanding music theory, and learning repertoire. I aim to make it a positive learning environment for both students & teachers. My experience runs mostly in early and chamber music, nevertheless I also have the experience and knowledge of popular musical styles such as Latin-American folk, jazz and musicals. As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborated with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs.
