Guitar lessons: jazz, rock & acoustic – Master's in Jazz Performance (Lisbon) & Live Electronics (Antwerp Conservatoire) – 20 years teaching

Guitar lessons: jazz, rock & acoustic – Master's in Jazz Performance (Lisbon) & Live Electronics (Antwerp Conservatoire) – 20 years teaching

Guitarist with a Master's in Jazz Performance from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and a Master's in Live Electronics from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. I have been teaching guitar for over 20 years, to beginners and experienced musicians alike. My approach: a real progression plan built for you, with measurable results week after week. I deliberately take a limited number of students so I can follow each one closely. HOW THE LESSONS WORK Every student starts with an assessment lesson: we look at your level and your goals, and you leave with a clear practice plan. After that, depending on your profile: • Beginners: solid foundations from the start (posture, rhythm, chords, reading), without bad habits to fix later. • Intermediate players who feel stuck: we find what's holding you back and work on technique, harmony and ear training. • Jazz and improvisation: harmony, voicings, standards, improvisation. Lessons at my studio in Antwerp or online, in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese. MONTHLY PLAN (recommended), paid at the start of the month: • 4 lessons per month (1 per week): €240 (€60/h) • 2 lessons per month (1 every two weeks): €130 (€65/h) Single lesson: €70 You can hear me play on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iOdnjkNsYY INTERVIEW 01 - Since when did you develop a passion for music and more particularly for your favorite instrument? - I became interested in the guitar at the age of ten. I had a friend who played "Blackbird" music by The Beatles and I was fascinated. From there, I started to study and I continue to learn today. 02 - What music can you listen to on repeat with the same pleasure (and without going crazy)? - Beethoven's Seventh Symphony. 03 - Tell us about the most difficult or amazing lesson you have given! - It would be a class where I have to explain the major and minor tonality and all its variants in one hour of class. But I will get there! 04 - In your opinion, what is the most complicated instrument to master and why? - It was impossible to answer. Each person has different predispositions. For me to play the piano at a high level would be complicated for the need for independence of the right and left hands. In this sense, the guitar is easier. 05 - What are, for you, the keys to success (apart from those of Sol and Fa)? - Constance, it's always better to practice a little every day than a lot once in a while. Patience, learning an instrument takes time. You have to learn to coordinate the body and the brain and take new paths from time to time. And the most important : Don't be afraid of making mistakes, to learn it is essential to make mistakes and this should not be a reason to stop practicing, on the contrary, it should be a motivation to improve. 06 - Name 3 musicians with whom you would dream of jamming in a bar at 2 a.m. and tell us why! - Tigran Hamasyan, Reinier Baas, Avishai Cohen (bassist) 07 - An anecdote to tell in relation to your job or your schooling (and not necessarily the party you had after entering the Conservatory)? - When I started giving lessons (I was 17), I had a 10-year-old student, when I suggested things to do, he looked me directly in the eye and said: No! But with patience, after a while, I managed to make a connection with him and at the end of the 3 years he played the guitar very well and we became friends. Now he is more or less 25 years old. 08 - What is the little touch that makes you a special teacher adored by all his students? - I am very patient and I always find the best way to explain to each student.

LEARN GUITAR WITH A PRO AND BENEFIT FROM -50% IN TAX CREDIT!!

LEARN GUITAR WITH A PRO AND BENEFIT FROM -50% IN TAX CREDIT!!

Professional musician, graduated from the Music Academy International with honors. Guitarist especially, bassist from time to time and drummer a little bit.. Dynamic, attentive and passionate, I experience music in all its dimensions. The guitar is an instrument that I love, that I like to make discover and share. No matter your style and your level, I will be there to facilitate its learning, thanks to my desire to transmit, to my patience, I know how to make my students progress so that they take as much pleasure in playing as me! ====== 50% off ====== My organization is approved as a Personal Service. You can benefit from -50% thanks to the tax credit! My method: For beginners, we will try to play as quickly as possible some pieces, riffs and melodies. I will introduce you to chords, different ways of accompanying, in arpeggios, in strumming, with percussions... and rhythm! For intermediates, we can refine your playing by discovering specific guitar techniques: bends, slides, back and forth, sweeping, legato, tapping, string-skipping, chicken-picking, etc. There is plenty to do! 😅 We will further install your sense of rhythm, the true foundation of solid musical expression. I have a simple and infallible method for learning scales, harmony and knowing how to use them. We will start improvisation, this exhilarating feeling of letting go giving an incredible feeling of freedom, to demystify the great masters of the guitar: Hendrix, Django, Gilmour, Knopfler, Stevie Ray, Clapton, Gallagher, Page.. and the one you like! For apprentice shredders, with my technical skills, I will analyze your playing, freeing the blocking points, explore the harmony while refining the implementation because rhythm is music! And for the die-hards there remains: modes, melodious minor, diminished system, augmented, parton, modal harmony, knowing phrasing on different styles, intervals, pairs of triads, playing in arpeggios, jazz and bop, chromatic approaches, enclosures, diatonic, tritonic substitutions, polymodality, modern pentas, changes in flow, visualization of the neck, the CAGED system, the Coltrane Change, Petrucci, Guthie Govan, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie, Greg Howe, Nuno, Tom Quayle, Martin Miller, Matteo Mancuso, Rick Graham, Meshugg, Periph... 😉 I have played a lot, on stage, in the studio, and elsewhere, I could also advise you on equipment and on creating a repertoire. Finally, I have training as a Mix-Master sound engineer, passed at the CFSM under the direction of Nicolas SAFFRAY. We can see creation and mixing techniques specific to MAO if that suits you more. If you like guitar, don't hesitate!

“ I decided to enter into the guitar world at age of 35. I found Nikola on this site and I feel lucky since I found the will and the passion I was looking for from time. I was almost sure playing guitar is something you start since you are a kid, but I was wrong. Thank you to Nikola in only 1 lesson at time gave me the right "charge" to go on in this journey. In only one year I see significant results. (I can confess, a lot of hard work from my side :) but the starting moment was decisive). His friendly attitude and his pation is the best attribute I can associate to this teacher. Thank you Nikola! ”

“ When I started taking classes with Yosif, I was a bit concerned because I haven't played guitar in 7 years. But he was a very patient and understanding teacher, and helped me regain the abilities I have already had from my former experience and improve my technique. He was very flexible (and spontaneous) with the schedule, which was great for me as I couldn't always plan ahead. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher! ”

“ Pedro is really experienced and flexible teacher with a big repertoir and a variety of music styles. We focused on jazz guitar and learned standard compositions. Pedro was able to find good examples and songs for what I needed to learn and adjusted them for our lessons. It certainly boosted my jazz guitar skills and getting started with improvising. ”
