Hello! My name is Robert and I teach Dutch to expats who want to feel more confident speaking Dutch in everyday life and at work. My lessons are practical, structured and relaxed. We focus on real communication, so you learn how Dutch people actually speak. Many of my students live and work in the Netherlands and want to improve their Dutch faster. I enjoy helping students feel more comfortable using Dutch in real situations. In my lessons we work on: • speaking and pronunciation • vocabulary and sentence structure • grammar explained in a simple way • understanding Dutch culture and communication I use conversations, short texts and practical exercises so that students quickly gain confidence in speaking. My lessons are suitable for: • expats living in the Netherlands • professionals who want to use Dutch at work • students preparing for the inburgering exam • learners who want to improve their speaking skills Levels: A1 – A2 – B1 – B2 – C1 A typical lesson (60 minutes) includes: • a short conversation • explanation of new words or grammar • speaking practice • homework, exercises and feedback Students usually speak a lot during the lesson, because speaking is the fastest way to improve a language. Besides books, I also create my own teaching materials and articles, which makes the lessons more engaging and relevant to life in the Netherlands. Would you like to improve your Dutch and feel more confident speaking it? Feel free to send me a message. I will be happy to discuss your goals and help you make progress.

Looking for a highly experienced Dutch tutor? Then you've come to the right place! I'm a former economics teacher with a full-time teaching qualification who, since 2021, has dedicated myself entirely to tutoring various subjects. I did this because it allows me to do what I love most: explaining material, building student confidence, and working together to improve grades. This way, I've helped around 200 students achieve passing grades or even pass their exams over the past few years! So, while I'm a former economics teacher, my language skills also make me a great tutor in Dutch, particularly when it comes to spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension. I can also be of great help in preparing for the Dutch exam. My final grade in Dutch was an 8 in secondary school (vwo). The structure of the tutoring is always determined in consultation, but generally, I'm a big fan of starting on assignments as soon as possible. Why? Because then I can quickly see what you can already do and what you're still struggling with. I help with that. This way, I avoid unnecessary explanations of things you already know. Moreover, you can then immediately apply the explanations you do need to an assignment. This way, the material sticks much better. By the way, if you prefer tutoring at home, but I live too far away, consider trying online tutoring. I'm very experienced in that. I always give online tutoring via Google Meet, using a digital whiteboard where I can draw, color, paste, and type. This way, I can explain/demonstrate everything perfectly. I then share everything I've written on the whiteboard with you via WhatsApp so you can review all the explanations and solutions at your leisure after the lesson. Super convenient! Finally, if I had to describe myself in a few words, they would be: knowledgeable, calm, reliable, approachable, committed and tidy.

I enjoyed my class with Mirjam very much! She prepared nice exercises for me, but was also open to do some exercises from my own books in the future. She explains everything clearly and precisely, and I already notice a progress in my Dutch after just one class, as she gave me concrete advice and feedback on some errors that I have been making in my speach. The class atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, you don't have to be scared to ask any questions or make errors. I think that Mirjam's approach would be perfect for you if you are just starting, but also for us who are already speaking the language for some time but want to perfect it. All recommendations from me!

We focused the lessons on learning communication, rather than studying the language. We add the things we practice to a document, and he sends it at the end of the class. Even though I started from zero, he's been quite patient and kind. And by now, zero-stress with grammar/theory. After a month, I am starting to be able to have a simple conversation at a store without barely help of another language, and I am taking a liking of Dutch.

I have been having lessons with Femke for a couple of months now and I am very pleased with my progress. Not only have I progressed in vocabulary and knowledge of the language, but I have also grown more confident to speak Dutch where I can in my day to day life - something that really helps to boost my learning. I would recommend learning with Femke to anybody who is interested!
