My name is Abbey and I teach violin and viola to students of all ages! I graduated with a degree in music education in 2022, but have been teaching, tutoring, and giving private lessons since 2019. I recently moved from the US to the Netherlands to grow my private studio and create musical resources for others. I offer violin lessons for all ages and levels, in English or in French. I believe in the importance of flexibility, that my job as a teacher is not to be stuck in my ways or methods but to be open to what you as an individual are seeking. You could be a complete beginner who fell in love with the violin, or a good intermediate player who wishes to come back to the violin, or someone needing some help to prepare for an audition, or maybe you only want to play a specific type of music... In all cases, we could make it work. I am also convinced that the relationship one has with the violin should be built out of physical ease and love for music. We often hear that the violin is a very difficult instrument, and although that is true to some extent, it doesn't need to be. I truly believe in the importance of physical exploration with the instrument to find what works best for you. Finally, my specialization in early music (baroque and classical periods) gives me a unique approach on the classical repertoire, the evolution of musical style, and different technical insights. This background allowed me to dwell deeper in certain subtleties such as ornamentation, articulation, just intonation and sound production (I personally play on gut strings). I also offer music theory lessons. If you are more advanced and interested specifically in baroque violin lessons, that is of course also possible.

You can learn Violin technique with left and right hands. Lessons are created for every levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced and you can study classical repertoire, but also pop music and soundtracks and you can learn improvisation too. I teach also piano for beginners and I can take you to play it for about three years. You can also learn Solfeggio and Music Theory, as a helpful insert to practicing instrument. I've been teaching music for eight years, so I know how to create an interested lesson and a specific course for you, observing your skills and motivation. You'll improve lesson by lesson, step by step, and you'll see good results.
