Violin lessons for all levels and styles + Music theory and solfège lessons

Violin lessons for all levels and styles + Music theory and solfège lessons

These lessons are suitable for all ages and levels. I would be delighted to offer violin lessons or music theory classes online via video call or in person at your home in Lyon or Villeurbanne. I have been teaching for several years, sharing my passion with complete beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. I would be happy to guide you with attentive listening and kindness in your musical practice. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me for more information. VIOLIN LESSONS: At your own pace and with your own listening skills, you will learn music that is dear to you and cultivate the joy of music. A violinist for 20 years, I received classical music training at a conservatory. I experiment with different violin styles (Baroque, Oriental, Balkan, folk, South American, popular music, film music, etc.). I impart the necessary technique to play what you want and adapt to each student's desires and goals. I studied at a conservatory in France, a higher education institution in Belgium, and with private lessons in Germany in classical and baroque violin. I completed a comprehensive conservatory training program over 20 years, with weekly classes in violin, orchestra, music theory, and choir. I have been teaching violin regularly since 2020. I continue to refine my skills and am committed to providing supportive instruction that is attentive to each student's needs. Annual trips, workshops, and tours enrich my skills and teaching methods. I am aware of the perfectionism of some violinists, the stress of playing in front of the teacher or other people, and the frustration of not being able to play what one wants quickly. That is why I guide the student towards a more relaxed and patient practice towards themselves while increasing their level of expectation. MUSICAL TRAINING SOLFEGE: I offer a fun and practical music theory course. This course helps develop melodic and harmonic listening skills, as well as the ability to read notes and rhythms. I studied music theory for 20 years at a conservatory and music school. I would be delighted to guide you in your music education. Do you have any questions? Or requests for information? Contact me via messaging and I will be happy to answer you. See you soon ! Sarah

Xiao & Dizi Lessons – Chinese Bamboo Flute with a Performer & Sound Designer (EN/FR)

Xiao & Dizi Lessons – Chinese Bamboo Flute with a Performer & Sound Designer (EN/FR)

Xiao & Dizi Lessons with a Performer, Teacher and Sound Designer I'm a xiao and dizi player, teacher and sound designer based in Taiwan, with over 20 years of teaching experience. I lived and studied in France, so I know how to explain this music clearly to students who didn't grow up with it, in English or French. With my background in sound design and acoustics, I can help you understand why your tone is airy or unstable, or why you run out of breath, and how to fix it, not just "practice more." The dizi has a clear, bright tone, used in traditional music, theater, folk melodies and film and game soundtracks. The xiao has a deeper, more intimate sound, ideal for slow melodies, lyrical phrasing and meditative music. WHO IT'S FOR - Complete beginners - Wind players who want to explore a new instrument and sound world - Fans of Chinese dramas, period games and East Asian culture - Anyone drawn to meditative, lyrical music WHAT WE WORK ON - Posture, basic technique, breath, tone production and sound control - Dizi membrane: how to paste and adjust it - Ornamentation, phrasing and expressive details - Numbered notation (jianpu) and/or staff notation - Listening to and understanding the style behind the music DIRECTORY (EXAMPLES) - Dizi: 《牧民新歌》 Mu Min Xin Ge (New Song of the Herdsmen) · 《喜相逢》 Xi Xiang Feng (Happy Reunion) · 《姑蘇行》 Gu Su (Flight of the Partridge) - Xiao: 《妝台秋思》 Zhuang Tai Qiu Si (Autumn Thoughts at the Dressing Table) · 《梅花三弄》 Mei Hua San Nong (Three Variations on Plum Blossom) - Beginner favorite: 《茉莉花》 Mo Li Hua (Jasmine Flower) - Taiwanese and Hakka folk melodies - Themes from dramas and games, or pieces of your choice ARRANGEMENTS ON REQUEST Have a piece in mind that isn't in the usual repertoire? I can adapt it to your request, write out the score (numbered or staff notation) and teach it to you. For example, I have adapted music from a Chinese period drama. YOUR FIRST LESSON You'll learn to hold the instrument properly, produce a clear sound, and hear what good breath support feels like. You'll leave with a short melody and a simple practice plan. AFTER FOUR LESSONS You'll play stable, clean notes across the first octave, perform a short folk melody, use one or two basic ornaments, read basic notation and understand how the dizi membrane works. (On xiao, which takes longer to sound reliably, the goal is steady notes and a slow phrase.) Students with wind experience often move faster. FLUTES FROM TAIWAN Good bamboo flutes are hard to find outside Asia, and quality varies widely. I can choose a flute for you in Taiwan and ship it to you. We'll decide the key and budget together based on your level and how you want to use it. SCHEDULING I'm in Taiwan (UTC+8) and can teach at almost any hour with advance booking. Tell me what works in your local time. Typical slots: - Europe: weekend mornings to early afternoon, and weekends. Evenings on request. - US & Canada, East Coast: weekend evenings and weekend mornings. - US & Canada, West Coast: weekend evenings and weekend afternoons. - Asia & Oceania: almost any time. Lessons are online, in English or French. New students: send me a message with your goals and your local time zone, and we'll set up your first lesson. ----------------------------------------------- Xiao and dizi lessons with an interpreter, teacher, and sound designer I am a xiao and dizi player, teacher and sound designer, based in Taiwan, with over 20 years of teaching experience. I lived and studied in France: I can therefore explain this music to students who did not grow up with it, in French or English. Thanks to my training in sound design and acoustics, I help you understand why your sound is hissy or unstable, or why you lack breath, and how to remedy it, beyond simply "you need to work harder". The dizi has a clear, bright timbre, used in traditional music, theater, folk melodies, and film and game soundtracks. The xiao has a deeper, more intimate sound, ideal for slow melodies, lyrical phrasing, and meditative repertoires. FOR WHO ? - Complete beginners - Wind instrumentalists who wish to discover a new instrument and a new sound world - Passionate about Chinese dramas, period games, and East Asian culture - Anyone drawn to meditative and lyrical music WHAT WE WORK ON - Posture, basic technique, breath control, sound production and control - Dizi membrane: gluing and adjustment - Ornamentation, phrasing and expressive details - Numerical notation (jianpu) and/or range - Listening to and understanding musical style DIRECTORY (EXAMPLES) - Dizi: 《牧民新歌》 Mu Min (Flight of the partridge) - Xiao: 《妝台秋思》 Zhuang Tai Qiu Si (Autumn Thoughts at the Dressing Table) · 《梅花三弄》 Mei Hua San Nong (Three Variations on the Plum Blossom) - To begin: 《茉莉花》 Mo Li Hua (Jasmine flower) - Taiwanese and Hakka folk melodies - Themes from dramas and games, or pieces of your choice ARRANGEMENTS UPON REQUEST Do you have a piece in mind that isn't part of the usual repertoire? I can adapt it to your request, write the score (in musical notation or staff), and teach it to you. For example, I've already adapted music from a period Chinese drama. You will leave with a short melody and a simple practice plan. AFTER FOUR LESSONS You will play steady, clean notes in the first register, a short folk melody, with one or two basic ornaments. “ I might not know much about flute, but what I know is that if you want to learn it, Anna's your gal. She's fun, smart, punctual and really professional and, to top it off, a really good teacher. She is going to make you feel appraised for your smallest accomplishments (which will definitely help you evolve much faster than using any conventional book/online course etc.) and will find the sweet spot between theoretical concepts and fun, practical songs to keep you entertained. I myself had an internal kerfuffle and nearly quit after 2 weeks of trying to learn flute. But flute can be fun and entertaining, and Anna's teaching method is the proof to that lemma! ”

“ She is really a kind and professional violin teacher. She can precisely identify the issues in your playing, then explain them clearly, and provide effective guidance to help you improve. Her lessons are well-organized, engaging, and thoughtfully adapted to your level and personal goals. She is always patient, encouraging, and supportive, which makes the learning atmosphere really comfortable and encouraging! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a violin teacher. I will definitely continue taking lessons with her and look forward to make further progress! ”

“ Emvee is a very good music teacher, my daughter had already several lessons with her and we are very happy with the progress. Can highly recommend to anyone. Also we like when Emvee sings herself, she has got beautiful and majestic voice herself! She is very good with Disney songs, when she sings we feel that one of the characters like Jasmine or Cinderella is just in front us! But you need to understand that she can do only her best and the rest of hard work you need to do yourself. ”
