In addition to my busy playing career, I offer individual lessons on Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute, and in Music Theory in North Essex, East Hertfordshire, East London or online. I am also able to offer tutoring for GCSE and A-level Music and Music Technology courses for individuals or small groups. ​ My fundamental belief with regard to music education is that it should be a fun, enjoyable and rewarding experience. With this aim in mind, I strive to develop an approach tailored towards each student, taking account of their experience level, their personal musical goals and their own musical interests and tastes. I am equally at home teaching Jazz, Pop, Soul or the ever-expanding repertoire of classical saxophone music. I have a wealth of experience in music education, teaching adults and young people in a wide variety of settings and contexts. In addition to having been an instrumental tutor since 1999: I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and have spent several years as a head of music in state secondary schools and at a 6th Form College; have taught and examined A-level courses in Music and Music Technology; have directed various ensembles within educational establishments and have devised and delivered workshops with a focus upon jazz and improvisation. My students have a 100% pass rate in their ABRSM practical and theory exams, with many attaining Merit and Distinction passes (including at grade 8). ​ I have an advanced CRB check and am happy to provide testimonials upon request.

The saxophone is one of the most iconic jazz instruments, but it can be tricky to learn without the right teaching. That's where I come in! I have a 1st Class Hons degree from the Royal Academy of Music - so I know what I'm talking about! And I have 2 young children, so I know how to get information across to kids and make things fun. My classes will bring together everything saxophone and music related, from basic technique and how to make a sound, to improvisation and jazz concepts. All abilities are catered for.

I provide Saxophone and Clarinet lessons for students from beginners up to grade 8 standard. For now, I just teach online. I specialise in classical, but can also help students to learn any song or piece they wish to, through reading music or learning by ear. I have prepared students for ABRSM exams in the past, so I make the lessons more detailed and give thorough instruction on how to learn. I can also incorporate music theory into lessons, giving a rounded and more in depth approach.

I can teach you saxophone from taking up the instrument right through to an advanced level. I will teach you to play by ear, to read music, to improvise and about music theory. Lessons will be quite relaxed and informal although Grade exams can be taken if desired.

I studied on the Jazz course at Leeds College of Music for my undegraduate degree, and recently completed an MA in Performance at the School of Oriental and African Studies(University of London), achieving a distinction. As a musician I primarily play Folk/World Music/Jazz. However, I trained classically before atttending music college and am available to take students through classical grades/repertoire if desired. All ages and abilities are welcome, Trinity Guildhall/ ABRSM syllabus can be covered, I am also fully DBS checked.

Hi, my name is Andrew and I’m a musician and composer. I’ve been teaching for around 10 years - up until recently I was doing most of my teaching in person, but I’m now just in the process of making the transition into teaching online, for obvious reasons! I feel that online teaching can be a great way of learning a new instrument and actually has a lot of advantages. I will provide all necessary sheet music and materials, exercises, etc. as PDFs. My teaching approach is designed to guide you from the very first stages of learning an instrument through to an advanced level, while being flexible to the needs and desires of each student. I like to take into account as much as possible the musical tastes and preferences of the student when selecting repertoire to work on, as I think this is a great way of keeping motivation high! I’m happy to help with music A levels and GCSEs too, if that’s what you need! I teach pupils of all ages, from primary school age (older primary age is the youngest I would recommend for online lessons) up to older adult learners.

I teach the clarinet, flute and saxophone for more than 30 years and proudly can say that I helped to improve and gave a new professional path to the hundreds of students in US and overseas. I am holding a Master’s degree from St. Petersburg State Conservatory (Russia), where I studied clarinet and saxophone. St. Petersburg State Conservatory, where I picked up saxophone in addition to studying clarinet. Simultaneously, I worked as a principal clarinetist at the St.Peterburg Symphony Orchestra. Not long after, I won second place in the All-Union USSR Clarinet Competition. Upon graduating from the Conservatory, I worked as the principal clarinetist in Kiev’s State Opera House and soon after was offered a position as a clarinet and saxophone professor at my alma mater, Kiev State R.M. Gliere Higher College of Music. If you want to learn to play the clarinet, flute or saxophone - and more so if your daughter or son does - the most promising way is to find a good teacher and take lessons. Learning to play a musical instrument like the clarinet, flute or saxophone is more than an intellectual process, that you may manage by abstract learning. Very much alike when learning to play the instruments there are a lot of things (how to sit, hold the instrument, your embouchure, how to breathe and move relaxed, how to control a tone) to train simultaneously and these things ought to be checked. The beginning can be difficult, and you can do a lot of things really wrong (and get used to that). Especially for the first hours it is worth to have a good teacher.
