Hello, my name is Izabel and I play the viola professionally and work in Zurich Opernhaus as well as other orchestras.
I also have more than 10 years of experience teaching the violin, the viola and music theory.
I can speak fluent English, Bulgarian and French. I can also understand German, but cannot fluently communicate.
I would be happy to work with you or your child at your home, or in my studio, as well as give an online course. My weeks are often quite flexible and I am happy to accommodate to your schedule whenever it is possible.

It is an important step in one's development to seek the right guidance and to have a teacher who helps them develop and grow. I was lucky to have been taught by incredible teachers, but I also needed to create a specialised way of practicing for myself, which I soon realised could help many others get through the difficulties of learning the stringed instrument.

About Me

I have been performing and studying music since I was three years old. I have experience with playing the piano, the violin, singing and playing the viola. My teaching experience begun 10 years ago in Bulgaria and progressed quite rapidly once I moved to Switzerland. When I lived in Lausanne I had 8-10 regular students, some of which were at the age of over 40 years old. I was then recruited to teach in the Swiss Music School "Gimme Music", however I decided to move to Zurich and to work in the orchestra Zurich Opernhaus.

I am an extremely patient and orderly person. I make things simple and easy to remember. I believe that anything can be possible to achieve if you manage to break it down and understand it to its deepest level and that is what I strive for with my students.

I always make the course individually constructed for the student. I listen attentively to what exactly are their goals and reasons for pursuing this path and I act accordingly. I will never judge or be malicious if the progress hasn't lived up to my hopes, everyone's journey and everyone's rhythm of development is completely different and never too late.

I myself have had to navigate these instruments sometimes completely by myself and that has led me to creating special tips and tricks which have then helped my students immensely.

Graduated with highest marks cum laude for the Bachelor degree in flute at the Conservatory of Florence (Italy) and with the same points at the Conservatory of Milano for the piccolo Master, I am now attending a Master degree in flute performance at the Zurich University of the Arts. I am a professional pianist from Taiwan, with more than 10 years of teaching experience. I graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK with a master's degree in piano performance and an advanced postgraduate artist diploma (both with scholarship and graduated with distinction). I have participated in masterclasses with many leading pianists, gained lots of awards in competitions, and had several concert performances around Europe and Asia.

My teaching experience spans over several years, in the UK, Taiwan, and Shanghai, both in a piano school as well as individually. I have helped my students prepare for the ABRSM exam (and pass it with Distinction), as well as attending competitions or performing in concerts.

I am happy to teach students of all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. My lessons include ear training, sight-reading, music theory, music history, depending on the interest and ability of the student.

I am patient, yet passionate about music, and enjoy sharing its joy and beauty with everyone. I am willing to travel to students' places and happy to accommodate your needs.

Would you like to learn viola, violin or piano? I am happy to support you with creativity and patience in the learning process. The most important thing for me is that the focus is on enjoying making music and developing at your own pace.
In the summer of 2022 I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Classical Music at the Basel Music Academy. I have 10 years of experience in being a music instructor. That's not only piano lessons, it's also a theory of music, history of music, and vocal and orchestral projects.

I've worked with students from all around the world - most of them attended the American School of Warsaw and the British School of Warsaw. The idea is not only to teach how to play the right notes and to know the main composers, but I also want my students to feel the music, to be able to find out what the idea of an art piece is. It is also very important for me to encourage a child to find his own style of playing. From my point of view, there are no people deaf to music, just people who aren’t acquainted with music, till now!

It is well known that music classes are not only pleasant but as well music classes are very helpful and important in a child’s education and development. Kids who play instruments learn languages faster and more productively, focus better, and it has been shown to perform better in math and science. My own experience and that of my students show me that music has a positive effect on a student's overall education results.

Music theory lessons, for children (from 9 years old) and adults.

Passionate about music theory and music theory, I would be happy to share with you my enthusiasm for music theory, so unfairly devalued, due to the sometimes brutal methods with which it is taught.

In the program :
- reading notes (treble clefs, C clefs, F clefs)
- reading rhythms (quarter notes, eighth notes, double / triple / quadruple eighth notes, triplets and other dotted notes)
- dictation of notes (training your ear takes time, but when the exercises are "tailor-made" and progressive, you progress faster)
- dictation of rhythms

Do not hesitate to tell me the context of your request (competition preparation, repurposing of instruments, exams, etc.).

The course durations offered are deliberately short to encourage maximum concentration.

It will be essential to prepare the exercises offered between classes, to progress in a way that gives you satisfaction and nourishes your motivation.

As well as instrumental teaching and ensemble coaching of at all levels over the last 12 years, I’ve led numerous professional workshops, including ‘Music First’ and ‘Music Masters’ workshops in London and was an assistant on the Primary Arpeggione viola course and at the Springgrove music competition. As a member of the European String Teachers’ Association, I participated in their conferences across Europe.

I have prepared students for music exams at all levels, working with them on music theory, aural and sight reading skills, and regularly accompany students on the piano.

I’m a violinist trained at the Conservatorio “Luca Marenzio” in Brescia, where I completed a traditional 10-year diploma in violin performance in 2016. I gained extensive experience as a concert musician, playing as first violin in distinguished orchestras and baroque ensembles.

Alongside the violin, I also teach piano. I studied piano as a complementary instrument during my conservatory studies and have continued to cultivate it for many years, focusing mainly on Russian late-Romantic repertoire.
