Mathematics is the language in which everything is explained from everyday activities to the complexity of the universe. However, one may need some help and practice to gain a deeper understanding or just to pass an upcoming examination be it to meet a requirement or for achieving good grades.

My name is Balazs Kovacs and I am currently studying physics at the University of Groningen. Because I have always loved teaching I organized a system in which tutors and students could be paired up. Needless to say that I also participated in it as a tutor myself besides successfully preparing students for school-leaving exams and ordinary exams. That's why I am offering tutoring in mathematics for those who want to study more in-depth or find math hard to pass.

About Me

Few words about my self:
The way complexity arises from simple laws in nature has always fascinated me. Physics gives me a framework to understand how everything is built up from the smallest viruses to the largest black holes.
Serving my school’s community as a member of the student council for three years taught me how to cooperate with others and how to be a responsible leader of a small group when it comes to organising a social event. For instance, I introduced a system to easily match up students who want to study a certain subject with a tutor in my school. I volunteered in this program as a tutor myself as well, which helped me to develop my explanation skills in science.

Why do I want to help you?
Mainly because I want to share the love I have for math and physics with the younger generations. I strongly believe that the knowledge and practice my student would gain during our tutorials would give not only them a better grade, but develop critical thinking skills and logic in general as well.

In 2023, I successfully completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at the same time as the Czech Baccalaureate exam at my high school. I enjoy mathematics, I had a special tutorial programme in it and as part of my extra-curricular studies I simultaneously studied mathematical analysis at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. From September 2023, I am studying mathematics in English at the University of Groningen. I have 5+ years of experience in tutoring mathematics.

Hello, I am a mathematics masters student specializing in algebra, geometry and number theory. I have graduated from the university of Groningen with a bachelor in mathematics. As such, I've spent a great deal of time studying mathematics at a higher level and have become acquainted with a broad range of mathematical disciplines such as algebra, geometry, analysis, calculus, probability, optimization and more, this of-course includes any high school mathematics. During my studies I working as a teaching assistant whenever possible so I have some experience teaching.

In mathematics there are often many ways to come to the same conclusion and it varies from person to person what they consider easiest to understand. As such I try to get to know the student first and figure out how they may learn best. Personally, I rely a lot on intuition and deep understanding of concepts and so i try to convey to students the most essential and fundamental ideas before moving on, as well as, giving them interpretations of what is happening so that they may becomes easier to imagine and more tangible. In solving any problem, I think it is important to first sit back and understand what is going on before embarking on any calculation or proofs.

In a typical class I would first survey what the student already knows and discuss the concepts with them making sure they understand them very well then we would move on to discussing examples and non-examples (this would take most of the class). Finally we would solve problems together discussing them as we go along. This of course can vary from student to student, their level and time available.

I can help with making things as basic as algebra 101 to integrals seem interesting all while helping your child understand them through and true. I studied mathematics at a STEM-specific academic high school, getting the highest possible grade for the subject in the Romanian Baccalaureate.
