I am a Suzuki trained teacher through world renown Mimi Zweig, Joshua Bell and Hilary Hahn’s own teacher! I studied with Grigory Kalinovsky and Mauricio Fuks at the Jacobs School of Music as well as Violaine Melancon at McGill University. I have been playing the violin for 20 years and teaching since I was 16, and I have great passion for music education for all ages. I will customise your lessons to what you need, from classical to folk to fiddling!

Passionate about orchestra and the teaching of my instrument, all along my musical journey I had the opportunity to transmit my knowledge in violin and music theory especially to the youngest (10-15 years old).

My method:

As for young students, for me learning the violin must be a discovery in every class. The child must be amazed by the beauty of the music each time he vibrates his instrument. This curiosity must be enriched day by day during his daily work and I want my classes to allow them to learn the instrument in the joy of discovering their own sensations!

As for adults, I want to provide them with the means to progress independently from day to day, always becoming aware of their body. It is important for me that the adult can develop his inner listening to help him progress on the quality of his accuracy and phrasing.

Daphne is a teacher of both Suzuki and traditional violin, and has been teaching for the past sixteen years. She has taught privately in Greece and the UK, at various music conservatories in Athens, the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music in London, St Catherine’s British School in Athens and most recently at South Shore Conservatory in Boston, MA. She currently teaches at École FACE in Montreal, maintains a private teaching studio in NDG and also offers lessons via Skype or FaceTime.

Daphne also enjoys coaching ensembles, and has worked with the South Shore Conservatory Youth Orchestra (SSCYO). In 2012 she coached and directed the inaugural concert of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Baroque Consortium (ASON) at the Goethe Institute in Athens.

Learning a musical instrument can be an equally exciting and daunting journey. Having gone through ups and downs herself throughout her own musical career, she values the need to have a constant love of music and a nurturing, supportive teacher. Daphne’s aim is to create a solid technical foundation in all her students, regardless of their age, and create a challenging yet supportive environment. Being a Suzuki kid herself, she loves having come full circle, and sharing the principles of the Method with both Suzuki and traditional students.

Passionate about music, I obtained my certificate of musical studies in 2019, which marked the end of my violin course at the conservatory. I subsequently played in the McGill Beethoven Orchestra and am now 1st violin at the Philarmonie Jeunesse de Montréal (PJM). I have 15 years of violin practice and 9 years of music theory behind me, and I would like to share with you this passion for music.
I give violin lessons to beginners or intermediate students, or even to advanced students who would need a guide in their work. I can also teach music theory. I adapt to your requests!

Graduated with a Diploma of Professional and Advanced Studies and a Master's degree in piano performance at the University of Montreal, I also obtained my Diploma of Musical Studies with A+ mention from the Jacques Thibaud Conservatory of Bordeaux in France. I have been working as a piano teacher for eight years now. I teach piano and music theory to all types of profiles, children, adolescents or adults ranging from a beginner to a professional level. During my musical journey, I tried to nourish my knowledge in the service of instrumental practice and pedagogy. During my lessons, we will cover subjects that are essential for me such as good position at the piano, flexibility of playing, stress management, bodily relaxation and of course, interpretation. My pedagogy is based heavily on this last point so that the student can stand out musically and find their own language while respecting a fair interpretation. Having grown up abroad (in the Central African Republic then in Saudi Arabia), I had the chance to learn the piano through an eclectic teaching.
In particular, I was a student of Gulmira Abdukhalikova, a Kazakh concert artist now based in Abu-Dhabi, who made me progress by applying the famous "Russian method". At 13, I won 3rd place in the International Piano Competition of Île de France at Maisons-Lafitte.

At the end of my adolescence, I participated in the Big Band of the Children of Jazz, within the framework of a festival organized each year in Barcelonette by Stéphane Kochoyan (who was also, at the time, artistic director of the Jazz Festival in Vienna).

Subsequently, I set sail for Canada where I lived for six years. I co-animated several Open-Mics of poetry, as a pianist-improviser, and I produced two albums: "Fragments" (2018) and "Echoes of space-time" (2019), the latter having been 100% improvised and recorded "one-shot" in the studio.
At the end of 2020, three years after having started giving piano lessons in Canada and France, I publish "The method of the self-taught pianist" as well as my own sight-reading manual.

Hello! I use different learning methods depending on the profile of each student. In all cases, I transmit a real working method that will be useful for your entire life as a musician! I usually divide the course into 2 parts, with a more technical part (warming up the hand and working on left hand agility, small exercises on the problems you might encounter), and a more musical part with the pieces. If you don't know how to read scores, I can also teach music theory or use an auditory learning method! I also often suggest playing in a duet, because music is above all a sharing :)

My teaching experience is varied: I have taught very young beginners (4 years old) and less young, and I also take care of the improvement of more advanced students! I also offer support in addition to courses at conservatories for example. I have been offering courses for 4 years now and I have always had excellent feedback from long-time students! :)

If you are interested in composing, don't hesitate! I work for film music and I was assistant to a composer in Hollywood. I also won many international awards for my projects.
