About Me
My name is Birgit. I studied classical violin and chamber music at the Highschool for Music and Dance in Cologne and Royal Academy for Music, Maastricht (NL). My formative teachers were Prof. Hariolf Schlichtig (former viola player in the Cherubini Quartet), Prof. Charles-André Linale (former Primarius in the Orpheus Quartet) and Prof. Szreder (well known for his concerts with contemporary music).
I completed my three successive studies with a diploma for instrumental pedagogy, an artistic maturity exam and a chamber music exam with top marks. Since then I have been following a stream of further development in music and also personally, because for me standstill is unthinkable and lifelong learning is very fulfilling.
I can be heard regularly in concerts with various duo partners and ensembles. I have been doing classical chamber music for many years, plus gypsy music, klezmer and free improvisation.
I am very keen to experiment and I love "crossover" of all kinds with classic violin, improvisation and also electric violin.
I have now released 5 CDs with my own pieces, some composed - some improvised.

I taught my first violin student when I was 16 years old. After graduating from high school, I began teaching violin at a youth music school, parallel to my music studies at this time.
After completing my studies, I taught in addition to my private students at the youth music school in Aachen. Since 2008 I have been teaching violin, viola, orchestra conducting and chamber music at the State Youth Music School in Hamburg and at the State Conservatory in Schwerin for many years. A large and loyal swarm of private students accompanied me for over 30 years. Taking care of their development was and is a great pleasure for me.

I love to pass on the ability to play the queen of instruments, the violin, including her big sister, the viola.

The Tecla y Música Workshop is a space designed to learn and develop your musical and expressive sense through the piano and / or keyboards.
The main objective is to learn to make music and enjoy the learning process and its results.
The material with which we work (songs, instrumental pieces and exercises) is mainly oriented to your musical taste, and the choice is based on gradually expanding your technical and expressive possibilities, while exploring different musical styles.
In this way, different tools are being incorporated to achieve, in a short term, mastery and fluency over the musical language and the instrument.
Given that each student has different interests and concerns, whether playing as a hobby or developing a professional career, composing, improvising, etc., the orientation of the classes is built according to the possibilities and particular needs of each case.
The work proposal implies a weekly class frequency to achieve optimal work dynamics and that the results are visible in a short term.
There is also the possibility of taking isolated classes in order to solve a specific objective such as developing and perfecting some particular aspect of music practice and / or theory as well as preparing instrument exams or theoretical subjects for institutions of musical studies.

I graduated from the Palermo Conservatory with Professor Dorotea Cei, student of Lazar Berman, Clive Britton (student of Claudio Arrau) and Roberto Caglieri (student of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli). In addition to a Master's degree in musical psychology in Romania, I also obtained a Master's degree in Advanced Music Performance at the ESMUC in Barcelona with Professor Vladislav Bronevetzky (student of Elisso Virsaladze). I have participated in several Masterclasses, including an annual course with Professor Roberto Plano and thanks to which I was able to acquire valuable teaching experience. Experiences that proved useful for teaching as a piano teacher in Bachelor and Master courses were at the Conservatory of Trapani “A. Scontrino”, at the Conservatory of Ferrara “G. Frescobaldi”, at the Sassari Conservatory “L. Canepa” and at the Palermo Conservatory “A. Scarlatti”.
During the lessons I attach great importance to artistic interpretation, emotional and psychological management during the study phase, before and during a performance, precision and respect for the score and the efficiency of the technique applied to the style and historical period.
I guide students by providing effective and optimizing study and learning strategies, also correcting factors such as posture and the correct use of the body at the piano and on the piano, the physiology of the hand and other factors such as economy of movement. All of these are factors that I have acquired from the great Russian schools from which I come directly and indirectly, with a very empathetic and organizational side I am able to give very satisfactory results to my students.
I recently collaborated as global professor of the Piania Conservatory in South Korea (Seoul) with currently virtual masterclasses and seminars and piano competitions. I recently held masterclasses at the Edward Said Conservatory of Ramallah in Palestine at the college of arts and the Philharmonic theater of Targu Mures in Romania, at the University of Music of Skopje and Sarajevo, at the University of Music in Kaunas (Lithuania) for various Italian associations including the Umbria Classica Association. I am often designated as commissioner in some piano competitions such as, for example, the International Henryk Mercel Piano Competition in Poznan organized by the Polish Calisia Art Foundation, the Malta International Piano Competition and others.

As an experienced musician with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience, I understand how important it is to approach each student individually. For me, the person is just as important as the instrument.

The first lesson, giving you the opportunity to get to know me, my teaching method, and the structure of the lessons.

What I offer:

Patience and empathy — I take the time to support your personal musical development

Clearly structured lessons — a balanced mix of technique, musicality, and joy in making music

Individual learning plans — tailored to your level, pace, and personal goals

Teaching experience with children, teenagers, and adults

Modern and classical teaching methods — adapted to your musical interests

Flexibility — lessons available online or in person, depending on your preference

In addition to violin lessons, I also offer piano and keyboard lessons, as well as music theory.

A special focus of my teaching is pop music, film music, and modern styles.
I can transcribe melodies by ear, write them down, and work with you on your favorite songs, pop soundtracks, or film music — fully tailored to your wishes.

My goal is not only to develop your technical skills, but also to inspire a lasting love for music.
