Suzuki violin lessons: Beginner - Advanced (4-80 years old)
From 106.5 C$ /h
The Suzuki Method is a highly successful learning approach for very young children to senior citizens. I know this because I am a trained Suzuki teacher through the Suzuki Association of Americas for all Suzuki Books 1-10 including supplemental courses. Additionally, I have been teaching for over 20 years and I have used the Suzuki Method to work with senior citizens who have become quite proficient players as well as nurturing 2 year olds through to the Tchaikovsky violin concerto well before they turn 16 years old.
I will tailor the lessons to you and coach you on your practice assignments so your progression can be well charted, goals are clearly understood, and the success will be evident. In the Suzuki Method, we will cover all aspects of a balanced violin lesson: Solo pieces, Technique (scales, etudes, new technical concepts, musicianship), Music Theory, Aural Skills, Music Reading, Sight Reading, Methods of Practicing, and Chamber music playing.
If you are interested in having your young child begin lessons (under 12), I will work with the Parent and Child in order to create a cohesive and supportive system at home for practice time.
Classes can be done through Zoom or if you have an Apple device, Face Time.
Suzuki Books 1-10 are not actually "method" books. It is the way the teacher is trained to teach that embodies the "Suzuki Method". Therefore, there are many other resources Suzuki teachers use in addition to the Suzuki Books 1-10 (sequenced solo repertoire) to support the violinist. For instance, there are books for just music reading/rhythm training, scale/arpeggio books, etude books, supplemental solo repertoire, duet books and much more.
Whatever your goal is to learn the violin, I am here to support you on this path. Once you have a good foundation in playing, your options for crossover to other playing styles are easily attainable.

Extra information
Things you need to know before you start your first violin lesson:
For those of you that don't have a violin, I recommend renting one. There is an insurance that you can take out through the rental company to cover all accidents. I highly recommend you do this.
For children, the sizes are variable ranging from fractional sizes (1/64, 1/32, 1/16, 1/10, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4).
If you aren't sure which size is right for your child, I will show you in the 1st lesson how to measure your child to find the correct size for renting. Therefore, for beginners, it isn't necessary to have a violin at the 1st lesson - we can cover things like bow holds and left hand shape without a violin/bow.
Please be ready to take notes with a pencil ready.
For beginners, you will not need any music for your first lesson.
For intermediate and advanced players, please gather all your music books and show me what you have been working on and the books that you have covered in your past.
If you are able to, please tune your instrument before the lesson and rosin the bow too.
Set your computer up such that I can see your violin and bow arm well.
For the Computer Set Up - if you set up the computer near the window during the daytime, please make sure the computer isn't pointed into the window as you will appear very dark and then I can't see the small details.
The same goes for lighting in the room, please make sure the computer isn't pointed into a bright light source as you will appear very dark and then I can't see the small details.

About Me
I am a very detailed and thoughtful teacher that is very carefully timing all technical and musicianship developments in order to be prepared for all sequenced solo repertoire and technical books (etudes, scale routines etc.). It is so important that all the concepts that need to be covered (music reading, theory, aural skills, technique, musicality etc.) are introduced already in the very beginning and are always nurtured and developed along with the maturity of the violinist.
While teachers are always available, the goal is for a violinist to be able to practice and problem solve on their own for life long learning. From the onset, regardless of age, it is very important that a person (even the 4 year olds) develops critical evaluation skills and practice methods to make sure that "practice makes permanent" only what is of high quality. Mastery at every step is the key to building a solid player with unlimited potential.
You will definitely learn to play the violin very well with me and you will also develop excellent practice habits to last you your life.
