I will teach you how to improvise, how to work with backing tracks, we will do lots of rhythm exercises (as rhythm is very often a blind-spot for string players - but we will work it out), I will show you many improvisational ideas and teach you how to practice scales so that you will be able to find yourself in many musical situations - while playing with a band on the stage :) What's more, we will focus on playing by ear. This is something, you were not taught in the school ;)

Experience / Qualifications

My experience is broad, because through all my life I simultaneously learned improvisation, jazz harmony, arranging&composition, playing in a band/leading bands as well as working in an orchestra, interpreting the solo violin repertoire and working in chamber ensembles. This led me to the point where I am invited by musicians of very different musical genres, I played rock with: Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon), Mike Reno (Loverboy), The Kiss, The Sweet, Thin Lizzy. I am also a member of a classic tango nuevo formation, based in Munich. Here in Poland, I work a lot with orchestras and some bands, also I'm a leader and composer of my own jazz-rock band (II prize at Tarnow Jazz Contest and finals of Grand Prix Ladies Jazz Contest). We do a lot of work now to record our debut album.

Hello,
I am a violin teacher and violinist. Having taught the violin for 20 years and knowing in depth different instrumental techniques and different teaching methods, I can adapt my teaching to the needs, age and character of each student. In addition, my educational background combined with the unique experience and knowledge given to me by my relatively recent motherhood and my love for children and other human beings, has led me to pursue positive teaching with empathy towards the student who aims to make him happy, to love music and to acquire a solid basis for his overall development! The rule is simple: don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself! Students are encouraged to try, fail, and overall be proactive in learning new information in bite-sized chunks: all of that in a warm and comforting environment.

I have been teaching adult beginners and intermediates to play the violin and viola for 10 years. The focus is very different. One person would like to find relaxation in playing the violin. Another would like to be able to play a certain piece because he likes it. A third has picked up the violin again after a long time.

I have had violin lessons for > 10 years and am currently studying viola at the Conservatory of Bolzano. I have 10 years of teaching experience.

Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it.

For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease.

The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody.

If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session.

Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

I am a professional musician and have been teaching students of all ages for over 20 years. My experience as a teacher and my pursuit of self-improvement as a musician have led me to develop an effective method that I have already tested with over a hundred students.
Throughout my career I had the satisfaction of studying with great masters of different specialties or styles, each one emphasizing different aspects of flamenco, classical or modern guitar and each one has given me their approach (technique, rhythms, accompaniment, harmony, etc.), which has led me after years of study and compilation to take the best from each one to develop my method.

I'm currently a piano and music theory teacher at AMT, which is an institution near my hometown.
