I am a Pop-Soul singer-songwriter, and recent graduate of a Bachelor's Degree at Falmouth University, studying Popular Music. I also have many years of classical training, including Voice at the Junior Guildhall School of Music.

This class is for people who want to improve their vocal technique, compositional skills and confidence in their creative abilities. It is what you need it to be to reach your musical goals and dreams, and I want to give you the confidence and toolkit to do so. I will not only be your tutor, but also your teammate in getting to where you want to go.

About Me

I am lucky enough to have been playing music since I was 3 years old and having the opportunity to follow this passion and meet so many inspiring people along the way. Not only have they shown me beautiful music, but the importance of the courage of conviction in your creative and musical abilities. I will help you find this through our lessons together.

I ran my school, teaching girls singing technique, and improving their confidence with performing. With my years of training, I can teach Classical technique, Soul, Funk, Pop, and Jazz. Together we will learn the intricacies of technique, but also how to tell a story through music and perform confidently through self-expression.

We can also work on songwriting in any style you like and help you find your voice through developing a compositional toolkit, confidence in your own ideas, and the ability to tell your own narrative through song.

In terms of my own career as a singer-songwriter, I have toured across the UK, had two of my singles chosen as BBC favorite find of the week, and was interviewed and performed on BBC Radio Cornwall and BBC Radio London and was featured on Melatrois, Surf Radio, and Source FM. I am a featured artist for BBC's 'Stay At Home Sessions' with my own music and a spotlit interview. I partnered with WarChild to raise money for the coronavirus fund for people in vulnerable warzones, featured on a charity album, 'One and All' to raise money for the Cornwall Community Foundation coronavirus relief fund. I have performed in venues ranging from the Royal Albert Hall aged 11 with a Classical Music performance to summer festivals with my own compositions.

Education

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Popular Music from Falmouth University, which included 3 years of studying songwriting, performance, musicology (the philosophy, history, psychology, and sociology of music) which was a fundamental part of writing my dissertation and industry training (legal, promotional, marketing, production, etc...)

2 years of Voice at Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which gives students the equivalent to ABRSM Grade 8 standard by the time of leaving.

I have had 11 years of vocal training in different genres, compositional training for over four years and have taught performance technique to the school Glee Club, organized lessons for the school Music Club which I founded and ran, taught and played music for 'Singing For the Brain,' a charity for people struggling with dementia where they sing once a week to find joy and forget about the rest.

My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.

At my studio my students will not only learn how to play the piano, but they will receive a complete musical education in order to achieve their musical dreams. In my class you will not only be able to receive piano lessons but also will learn to understand how the music works as a language.
