About Me

As a teacher, my main focus is on the needs of every student. We are all unique and have our own potentials and goals. Thus, teaching should be flexible and adaptable so everyone can achieve the best they can. whatever the age and the level is, music should be part of our lives, because it can be very beneficial for us!

Education

My musical education started at the age of 7 when I first began the piano. Later, I also started having some private violin lesson at the age of 9 which continued until the age of 15. Around 2016, I joined the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra where I was playing as a tutti player and then principal viola for four years. Currently, I am at my 3rd year Bachelor, in the Koninklijk Conservatorium in the Hague, where I am also doing my minor in Education.

My experience in teaching started a few years back when for a couple of years I was teaching a young girl the piano. Currently, I am teaching two young adults, as part of my educational curriculum.

Master-degree holder with 25 years of concert & teaching experience. Solo, chamber & ensemble music, orchestra performer with leading and conducting experience. Music is my addiction, love to perform and teach. Enjoy time with student, but I eager to see progress as well. Because of my international concert projects (Spain, Russia, France, Germany, etc), I have learned different styles and approaches, therefore I can bring you into your next level and unlock your talent. I am currently studying Early Music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and have recently graduated from The Juilliard School, where I was the proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship. I have taught students from 12-63 in Texas, New York, Brazil, and Hungary. I believe that learning an instrument is a vehicle by which one may learn anything and that music is fundamental to our humanity. I believe one is never too young, or old, to learn, and I am committed to sharing music.

I put a strong emphasis on developing instrumental techniques and fundamentals. With a good foundation, students are more easily able to express themselves in an imaginative way. I challenge my students with high standards in a learning environment that is fun and engaging.

I believe that students learn best when they feel challenged, but also successful and confident about themselves. I am a detail-oriented and rigorous teacher but I find balance through patience and kindness. I maintain a keen awareness of pacing, interests, and motivation so that my students never get bored.

My violin and viola lessons are available for people of all ages, from the ones starting with the instruments until the pre-bachelor level. In them, I will help students to control their instruments in an easy way, from basic technique to specific to each chosen work, in addition to giving great importance to posture, movement, and body care, crucial for musicians. Although my main instrument is the viola, I also have extensive knowledge of the violin.

My lesson will depend on each student's goal. If you are a student who wants to learn an instrument as a hobby and has never had contact with an instrument before, I will teach you the basics (from holding the violin and bow and playing easy tunes on the violin to teaching how to read notes and rhythms).
If you are a student with years of experience and already know the basics, I can help you with the repertoire you are playing, or give you and prepare new pieces with you, I will help you improve your practice sessions and help you prepare auditions or performances.

I give lessons in English or Portuguese but can also manage to speak Spanish

I offer individual one-to-one violin lessons for any age and level. You can choose between 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons once a week with 40 lessons total in a year. The lessons can be in Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatoire) The Hague, online, or at the student's home with an additional transport fee per lesson.

My violin class is open to any genre, from classical to pop. The lessons will be in English, Indonesian, or basic Dutch. There is no need to bring anything for a lesson, but it would be great if you already have your violin, and feel free to bring your previous materials or songs/pieces you have ever learned to the lesson.

When teaching, I focus on diversity and inclusivity. I have taught diverse students from various nationalities, ages, and levels.

But improvisation is not a mysterious talent we are born with. It requires as much discipline as freedom and develops through a specific set of skills that can be understood, practiced, and ultimately transformed into performance.

After more than ten years of teaching improvisation to professional string players at conservatory level, I have developed an approach that rethinks fingerboard visualization and the relationship between the ear, the hand, and the instrument, making improvisation more accessible to string players from all backgrounds.

In these lessons, I will help you understand the logic of the fingerboard, transpose effortlessly in any key, and visualize the shapes of any chord, expanding its harmonic possibilities for accompaniment. I will also show you how to create effective grooves through chops and percussive techniques, while developing a melodic language that goes beyond scales and patterns. We will explore styles including Jazz, Blues, Fusion, Pop, Rock, Brazilian, and World Music. (According to the style, we can also work with loops and effects.)
