I have an organ master's degree in Groningen and I have studied a piano degree in Spain. I have had a long experience teaching students, adults and children. I have taught seniors to read music and play pieces that they were very excited about! Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Canada, I've been playing music for over 40 years. I'm starting to get the hang of it. Classically trained and world influenced, I am proficient in both old and new musical styles My main instrument is guitar, but I am also quite taken by the piano. I would be happy to show you some of what I've learned. I have taught music to people of all ages and of various backgrounds. I have a nice rapport with kids and adults. I am friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and easy to have around for 45 minutes each week. I speak english, french, spanish, german, and some dutch.

I give violin lessons (also viola) for children and adults. During the first lesson we will first get acquainted and I will explain about the posture and we will first make sound. It is important to first learn the basics well (rhythm, reading notes, posture and more), I always give nice songs and if students prefer to learn to play something that is always allowed. If the student can already play then we look together for the repertoire.
It is also important to practice regularly, you don't have to do much, 10 minutes a day works fine as long as it is regular.
I play more classical music myself, but I can of course also play modern well-known songs.

Hi, I'm Sterre! In 2024 I got my bachelor's degree in classical piano at the conservatory in Rotterdam. I'm currently doing my master's degree at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen. I regularly give concerts, besides that I also really enjoy giving piano lessons to children and adults who are motivated to learn to play this instrument! I give piano lessons in Groningen.

My passion for playing the piano started when I was 11 years old. I was staying with a friend who had a piano. At first I wasn't very interested, but by chance I had a piano app on my phone that allowed you to play the easy version of Für Elise and other pieces. Because I thought it would be more fun to play on a real piano, I sat down at it. I enjoyed it so much that I played the piano the rest of the day!

Later I got a piano myself. I taught myself to read notes and the theory around it. I progressed very quickly, because within a year I was accepted to the preparatory course of the conservatory in Rotterdam. (Havo/Vwo for music and dance.) When I finished the preparatory course I continued with the Bachelor at the Rotterdam conservatory. At the moment I am studying in the first year of my Master.

Piano lessons:
First we discuss your goals with each other to see where you want to grow towards. I then adapt my lessons accordingly.

Furthermore, I find it important to focus the lessons on the basic principles of piano playing. Notation, rhythmic skills and a good body and hand position. In addition, I find it very important to teach expression and musicality. But the most important thing is to have fun playing the piano!

Anyone can learn to play the piano!
From the age of 5 I also give piano lessons to children. I teach in a playful way to keep it interesting for children. I work with a nice lesson book with nice assignments and clear explanations.

I offer violin lessons to students of all ages. My approach is based off the Vivaldi Method combined with elements of the Suzuki. I have taught violin students for the past four years in the United States with the Vivaldi Method developed by violin pedagogue Ida Bieler. I have taught pre-school (age 4-5), middle and high school students (age 11-18), and also adults. I accept students of all ages and my approach is based off the Vivaldi Method combined with elements of the Suzuki. I work with students step-by-step on technique and music together in order to build a natural and aware way of playing that is suited to the individual’s anatomy and joy of playing the violin.
