About Me

At the age of 6 I started singing in children's choir Villanella under the direction of my
mother, An Alen. Four years later I started with oboe at the music academy of Geel with Griet Bols and a year later I combined this with piano where I took lessons with Hilde Beliën and An Beerts. Because I had a great passion for piano, after my humanities, I started higher music studies at the Lemmens Institute with Jan Vermeulen and Johan Lybeert.

Four years ago I graduated with a distinction for piano with Jan Vermeulen and I completed my second bachelor singing with Annelies Van Gramberen. For piano I completed myself by following master classes with Reima Raijas, Mirabella Dina, André De Groote and Veerle Peeters. From September 2017 I continued my singing studies at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp where I completed my third bachelor with teachers Stephanie Friede and Liesbeth Devos. In June 2020 I obtained my master's singing with teacher Anne Cambier with great distinction.

Since a few years ago I have also been a music teacher (piano, singing, ensemble, music studio/solfège and AMC) at the music academy in Geel. I regularly perform with my two musical sisters and accompanist Nils Hellemans, an ensemble called Consorella. In the past I have worked with this ensemble with, among others, Luc Ponet (organization Alden Biesen), Jean-Pierre Van Hees, Guy Vandromme (Klankenstroom, Musica Vocalis) and Bruno Sprengers (Choir Exsultate).

I've been playing the piano since I was 10. But at the music academy I learned piano in a very scholastic way. We always had to learn scores, which you spend a lot of time on, and once you could do it perfectly, you already had to switch to another piece. I got tired of this and started improvising. I now make my own songs and I prefer to play the piano more than ever before. I would like to share this with other people as well. I do this in combination with solfège, so that everyone has the basics. The lessons consist of 70-80% solfège and piano pieces (I work with piano books) and then we conclude with 20-30% improvisation. Improvisation is experienced by all my students as the most enjoyable part of the lesson.

For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that!
