Hello! My name is Gizem and I've graduated from Turku University of Applied Sciences as a Music Pedagogue/Violin and Viola Teacher in 2024. Currently I'm studying Viola in Sibelius Academy.

I'm the player of the Maussiell Viola loaned by the OP Bank Art Foundation

I have 5 years of experience in both Violin and Viola teaching. I have my education on children's pedagogy but I love teaching to people from all ages!

About Me

About my teaching style:
-I try to create a very positive, calming and safe environment in my lessons.
For me, it is very important that my students are having a good time and learning while having fun.

-I plan my lesson structure uniquely for every individual. Not everyone has same wishes or goals when it comes instrument playing. Therefore, it is very important for me to know my student's wishes and goals in advanced. I don't believe in "one-fits-all" mentality.

-When I'm teaching to young children, I try to create a "game-like" environment in my lessons. In my opinion, instrument playing should be fun and enjoyable for everyone but especially for children!

About myself:

I've been playing violin and viola for 12 years. I have studied with many teachers during these years but currently I'm studying with Pirkko Simojoki and Remi Moingeon in Sibelius Academy. I play a lot of solo, chamber music and orchestra repertoire.

Diogo is a curious musician, being part of different projects such as the Kaamos Duo (contemporary music for saxophone and soprano singer), chamber music with pianist Lambis Pavlou and Cantus Portugueses (traditional portuguese music with a modern twist). He also plays as a member of the contemporary music groups Korvat Auki and the Nyky Ensemble.
His main musical interests at the moment are the collaborations with living composers, chamber music with different ensembles, and interdisciplinary improvisation.
Diogo performances have taken place in many venues such as the Philharmonie of Essen, OrchesterZentrum Dortmund, Music Center Helsinki, Turku Castle, Liceu Auditorium Barcelona, Casa da Música do Porto, and many more.

Diogo's recognition includes prizes in some international competitions and the recent recognition at the 2022 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy competition for Contemporary Ensembles and the recent participation at the prestigious Josip Nochta Competition in Zagreb, Croatia.

Diogo teaches all saxophones and ensemble playing in Portuguese, Spanish, English and German.
