I have been working as a string specialist with a London based music hub in the past nine years, and I have been acting as Head of Instrumental Music Studies throughout the last academic year. As a string specialist, some of my job functions consisted of whole class, small group and one to one viola, violin teaching, conducting string ensembles and leading evening centre orchestras.

I am passionate about consistently creating a positive and safe learning environment for pupils, which inspires and motivates all level. I am running a very successful private practice with gifted and talented young violists and violinists in London. Most of them prepare for NCO, RAM and RCM auditions, festivals and both ABRSM and Trinity Exams.

I perform with professional orchestras and chamber ensembles on a regular basis too.

The outline of my typical lesson consists of scales, a study and a piece. This creates a solid technical foundation while also expanding the students repertoire. I attended the Purcell School before moving to Germany where I studied for my Diploma. I gained a Bachelor of Music degree from City of Basel Music Academy in Switzerland and Master of Music degree from the University of Music & Performing Arts Stuttgart in Germany, graduating with the highest honours for both degrees. I successfully finished my Postgraduate Artist Diploma studies at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.

My name is Aoibheann, I am originally from Ireland but have been living in London almost 2 years. I am a piano teacher who has studied piano for over 12 years. I have studied Grade 8 Piano and Music Theory. I have also studied at an undergraduate level in Music. Approach to Teaching
– I favour a structured approach. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs.
– Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.
– I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.

Lesson Structure
– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters for a student's requirements.

– I am a Musicology PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge.
– I have worked as a private violin teacher for 7 years (since I was 17). I have taught a variety of students, from beginners starting their instrumental training, to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills.
