About Me

Hi! I’m Selin, a professional musician and experienced piano and singing teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience across the UK and Türkiye.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Music Education and a Bachelor’s Degree from Ankara University State Conservatory, with a background in classical music, piano, singing, vocal technique and musicianship.

Over the years, I’ve taught children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to more advanced students. I also founded and directed my own independent music education business in London, teaching in private studios, students’ homes and music schools.

My approach is personalised, encouraging and creative. I believe lessons should be more than simply learning notes or preparing for exams — they should help you understand music, develop confidence and, most importantly, enjoy making music.

Piano lessons in Jazz, Classical, or Modern styles; depending on the student's interest, we can mix a bit of everything or delve deep into one style.

Main focus applied to overcome the problem of piano: mastering two-handed rhythm. To achieve this, I teach left-hand grooves and foundations while working on improvisation, harmony, melodies, accompaniments, and everything there is to play with the right hand. I introduce piano techniques such as walking bass, tenths, stride, drop 2, and more.

From my experience, rhythm, "Groove", and the connection with the music in the moment it is being played are the most challenging aspects to learn and integrate. Thus, I give significant emphasis to these topics in my sessions, especially those aimed at playing polyrhythmic instruments such as the piano.

I cover compositional tools, approaching Jazz Standards, accompaniment techniques, improvisation methods for any instrument, Blues tools, methods to strengthen the relationship with the instrument, analysis, and listening skills. I also teach classical piano for those interested, and offer specific training in rhythm and percussion.

As a musician and music producer, he graduated in Musical Production from ENTI-UB and with the Professional Piano Degree. I have stage experience as a pianist, bassist and drummer, and I am currently part of the Cor d'Amics de l'Òpera de Sabadell.
