I’m a professional music educator with over 20 years of experience teaching children, teens and adults in the U.S., Spain and internationally. My lessons focus on building a strong musical foundation while helping you enjoy the process and gain confidence.

Lessons are personalized to your level, goals and learning style. We work on technique, musicality, rhythm, ear training and repertoire you enjoy, whether you are a complete beginner or returning to music after time away.

About Me

I’m a professional music educator with over 20 years of experience teaching violin and guitar to children, teens and adults in the U.S. and Spain.

My teaching style is calm, structured and encouraging. I focus on helping students build confidence, solid technique and a genuine connection to music, without pressure or unnecessary tension.

I enjoy working with beginners, adult learners and students who may feel unsure about starting (or restarting) music. Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace, goals and personality, and I aim to make learning feel accessible, motivating and enjoyable.

Whether you are learning for personal fulfillment, confidence or musical foundations, my goal is to help you feel at home with your instrument and enjoy the process of making music.

Developing good vocal technique involves a correct understanding of breath and diaphragmatic and abdominal supports. Individual lessons allow for personalized and in-depth work on the different aspects of singing: repertoire, technique, knowing how to project the voice flexibly. I also have training as a music therapist for a more therapeutic approach to the voice.

As the head teacher at Esclat Barcelona Music School and Viaró Global School, I'm currently conducting research in the biomechanics of violin playing, and I'm set to publish four books on this subject this year!

A young and enthusiastic tutor who has more than 15 years of experience in musical performance, who is constantly developing her skills and learning new instruments (currently, violin and guitar :).
I come from Ukraine and have a diploma from a completed 8-year piano, music theory and choir degree from Russian and Ukrainian musical academies. I am very proud of the educational background I have since my teachers had always been very strict yet fair with their ways of teaching, which gave me a strong base as a musician, and, later on, as a tutor. Moreover, I have studied psychology here in Spain for 3 years at a university, so I get on well with many different personalities and know how to approach stressful situations.
I must mention that I am passionate about spending my time with kids and sharing the skills and experience I have with people.

I speak Spanish, but offer classes in English, so my students can also practice their English while in the class. Of course, if the student prefers to keep it in Spanish, it is not a problem for me.

I am happy to help beginners with meeting piano for the first time, as well as tutoring students with some experience to help them with practising at home, pointing out the most crucial areas of improvement in order to reach the best result possible. Beyond performing, Karen is passionate about teaching. She has taken part in music festivals such as Gramado in Concert (Brazil) and directs the educational program “Cello in Concert” at Smart Music School in California.
