About Me

My name is Arthur. I'm a professional singer and music teacher with extensive international training and active stage experience. I graduated as a music teacher (primary and secondary education) from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and also studied voice at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg.
I teach singing to children, teenagers, and adults, both individually and in groups. In my lessons, I combine sound vocal technique with musicality, expression, and confidence. I believe it's important that students feel free in their voices and learn to sing with joy, in a way that suits their personal abilities and goals.
Besides my teaching, I'm also active as a performing artist. I give concerts and have participated in various television programs and music competitions. In 2025, I was a finalist on Holland's Got Talent and in 2024, a contestant on the TV program ARIA. I consciously incorporate this stage experience into my lessons, for example, when preparing for performances and dealing with stage fright.
My lessons are suitable for both beginners and advanced students and can focus on technique, interpretation, performance, or audition preparation. Together, we'll work on a strong, free, and authentic voice.

This lesson can help you set out to learn how to speak Hanyu, read, and write Zhongwen. For this purpose, you will study the Chinese alphabet (Hanyu Pinyin), characters(Hanzi), vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and common words and phrases. If you want to learn the Chinese language, you've found the right class!

This course is designed in three versions for different kinds of participants:

1) A Beginner!

- Have little or no prior knowledge of the Chinese language;
- Want to learn how to make yourself understood in Chinese when traveling, for example, understanding and speaking common everyday words (and sentences) in different typical scenarios ;
- Hope to express 1-10 and some larger numbers in China in speech or by gesture decently.

*Some examples at this stage:

2) An Intermediate Learner

- Have upper-intermediate knowledge of Chinese;
- Need to increasingly enhance our active language skills, to expand your vocabulary, practice reading without Pinyin, and master more advanced grammar and fixed structures to be able to make longer sentences;
- Interest yourself in being able to express your views on common everyday topics, like foods, drinks, gifts, weather, Chinese habits, and common practice.

3) An Advanced Learner
- Can speak and understand Chinese reasonably well;
- Attempt to deepen your understanding of Chinese culture and learn more advanced grammatical constructs to communicate more specific and complex ideas in Chinese, both verbally and in writing;
- Focus on topics dealt with leisure and hobbies, hospitality, culture, arts, poetry, history, dynasties and civilization, of modern and ancient China.

I have been studying opera and classical singing since the age of 12, as well as jazz, choral, and musical theater singing. I have been performing in musicals since 2015.

My classes are based on three core principles. The first is having a clear method, rooted in the real functioning of the voice—its physiology (what science tells us about how we use the body to sing)—and applicable to anyone, step by step, with logic. I always prioritize the student’s vocal health and rely on scientifically proven methods. I use simple language, without unnecessary technicalities, so everything is easy to understand and makes sense.

The second is the emotional and psychological aspect. For me, connecting with the person in front of me is essential—understanding how they think, how they perceive themselves, what blocks them, and what motivates them. This way, I can adapt the classes to their personality and goals. I try to create a relaxed environment based on respect, trust, and a little humor, where everyone feels free and comfortable. We aren’t all born with the voice we wish we had, but we can all develop what we do have—and on that journey, singing becomes a way to know and accept yourself better.

And the third is the dedication and professionalism with which I approach this work, which I am truly passionate about.

All classes are divided into a warm-up and vocalization section, followed by work on a chosen piece suited to the student’s level and preferred style. Regardless of style or level, a foundation in classical singing will always be established.
