I offer lessons in guitar/bass, piano/keyboard (classical/experimental/pop/jazz), composition/songwriting, production/recording (DAWs, mixing, editing etc). No matter what level we're on, as musicians and artists we're all part of a wonderful and strange ongoing human project, and I believe that it's my duty to share the knowledge and skills that I've accumulated throughout the course of my life and career. Over the years, my work has branched out in many different stylistic directions but I am firmly rooted in avant-garde/classical music. I hold two degrees in composition: a Master of Music '11 from the Yale School of Music where I also taught undergraduate lessons in composition; and a BA in Music Composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden ('09). I've written large scale works for orchestra, chamber pieces, solo music for a variety of instruments, works with multichannel electronics, and works for theater and dance. For those interested, my recorded work is easily accessible online on a variety of labels and my scores are available from Schott Music New York. As a pianist, I began formal training at age 6 and worked through much of the classical repertoire before deciding to focus fulltime on composition. I am also an accomplished studio musician, improviser (jazz/free/experimental), and a member of several groups/ensembles. A firm believer in the use of intuition as a primary tool in music making of all kinds, I would like our lessons to be shaped according to your needs and interests. No matter what level you are on, my goal will always be to offer you exactly what you need at each given step. I treat each student as a unique collaborative effort. Apart from technical and aesthetic approaches, it is usually very difficult and takes a long time to find one's 'voice' as a performer, writer or producer; this is inevitable except in rare cases, and I will endeavour to teach you to trust in your own abilities, overcome insecurities and doubts, and connect your artistic practice with a more unified mindset that goes beyond imagined technical and stylistic limitations and aesthetic policing. The main point is to eradicate unnecessary obstacles to your creativity and learn to trust your intuition and choices.

With me, you can begin, develop, or even perfect your piano skills. I adapt to all levels, styles, and paces. Some students who have dedicated a significant amount of time to studying piano regularly have made tremendous progress in a short period. For students wishing to prepare for the entrance exam to the conservatory, I can help you in the form of an intensive mini-course during the summer or before (piano leveling and/or music theory). My teaching method is sensory-focused, emphasizing the development of movement in connection with musical feeling. I will help you "connect" with your instrument and unlock its full potential. Also, I attach importance to understanding the pieces played. Understanding their structural, harmonic functioning is necessary and unfortunately little addressed in traditional courses. My classes are deeply human. A relationship of trust is established from the very beginning of the lessons. In my opinion, this is the foundation of effective learning. My students are very satisfied with my approach, and I would encourage you to try the experience too! I teach at home (Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume), at the student's home, and also via videoconference in the rest of France and abroad. For this last option, if you are not equipped, I will help you with your first steps. I offer hybrid formats for certain locations (online courses + some occasional in-person courses). NOTE: The price shown is for a 45-minute lesson. Please feel free to contact me. As places are limited, I would appreciate it if you could be as specific as possible regarding your request (level, objectives, availability, motivations) so that I can best respond to it. The pleasure of working with you !

As a Master’s student in medical biology, I have been playing piano and guitar for 18 years. I can explain to you the musical theory that allows you to understand a piece on which you want to improvise or to understand the idea behind the composition of a piece. I can find you the chords of any song or piece and I have examples of songs whose chords search is particularly interesting. I can teach you classical music and jazz. I use a piano that provides an automated and complete accompaniment, that is to say that we can play as with a band with a drummer and musicians of any style. This is very convenient. I also have recordings of impro funk or hip-hop patterns that are what you might call "fire" to learn to improvise with pleasure. I took classes at the school of jazz and current music for about ten years and had some bands, concerts and jams at the university. I was also a member of the Lausanne University Choir. For many years, I made self-taught classical music in parallel with jazz lessons.
