Welcome to Lalabela Music Academy! I am a piano, singing, music theory and writing/composition teacher, with more than twenty years of experience in the recording industry and education. I specialize in current/modern music but I teach all musical styles. Graduated from the National Conservatory of Music and the University of Cambridge in 2013, I joined the New York school of producer with 7 Grammy Awards, Gordon Williams (known for his work with Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill or Alicia Keys) . I teach piano and singing in French and English, and I help students prepare for auditions like the Voice, or record a first song in the studio. At the same time, I provide support and coaching to young artists, and I organize workshops and singing improvement courses in English for adults, children and adolescents. I have created a direct and rapid method which is directly inspired by my years of experience to best share my know-how with my students. As each student is unique, as soon as we start lessons, I will put in place a program adapted to your needs, your level, your musical tastes in order to best help you in your musical journey. In the first session we will make an assessment and then discuss the best way to move forward. Whatever your musical project, professional or amateur, I am at your disposal to talk about it.

I specialise in tutoring piano, music theory and music composition for mainly beginner to intermediate level students. My lessons are informative but also light-hearted and engaging, and I always aim to tailor the content to the student's personal interests, whether that be prepping for an ABRSM exam or simply playing/learning for fun. Alongside classical music, I also specialise in jazz and pop piano so am very flexible and open to tutoring students from all kinds of musical backgrounds. My life is all about music and creativity. I'm a proudly self-taught multi-instrumentalist and an eternal student. EARLY CAREER I worked in London as a session musician and touring drummer and pianist for more than 10 years with Shaw Thing Artist Management. I played with talent including Joy Crookes at much-loved places such as The Roundhouse, Abbey Road and The Edinburgh Festival. I also worked as a private tutor during this time, helping 50+ children and adults learn drums, piano and bass - many of whom got all the way to Grade 8. TODAY In 2022 I moved to Brighton for a new musical chapter. I now work as a composer/sound designer and creative director for award-winning artistic projects and brands including premium travel company Kuoni. I’m my happiest when I’m creating and making things happen, co-ordinating talented teams to get the job done. I also offer a transcription service, delivering detailed scores which I create by ear. Finally, I am an examiner for Rock School & Yamaha, assessing students across a range of popular instruments, and continue to teach one-to-one in-person and online. PROJECTS & AWARDS I am the producer of a short film titled When We Fell, featuring an original soundtrack released under my artist name Spoon. In 2021-22 it was presented at festivals worldwide, won three awards and was nominated for the Audience Award by the prestigious British Animation Awards. I have also released a video game that music-lovers will enjoy called Keep The Music Alive, a retro 2D platform game that follows the creative journey of a composer - and features beautiful Contemporary Jazz/Classical tracks. QUALIFICATIONS I have a BMus in Music Performance & Production from the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM) and am currently studying an MSc in Music and Sound for Film and Games at the University of Hertfordshire. This is a 6-week *remote* piano course for kids and parents and is intended for absolute beginners ages 5-10. Classes will be held on Zoom each Saturday from 1:00 PM-1:40 PM EST, beginning on August 1st, 2020, and ending on September 5th, 2020. Students will learn the basics of piano, including reading music. We will be using a traditional curriculum, and students will need to practice during the week in order to advance. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend at no additional cost, although the most that can sit around the piano comfortably is 3 people!
