Hi there! I am Rafael, a graduate Master's student at the Conservatorium Maastricht. I have been playing trumpet for more than 15 years and I am excited to share my passion and show others the fantastic sound of the trumpet. In the past when I was still living in Portugal (my home country), I have been a trumpet teacher for musicians of all ages. Additionally, I have experience in orchestra playing such as Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, NJO (Nationaal Jeugdorkest), and Limburg Jeugd Orkest. I am passionate about classical music, however, I am open to working with any music style, like Jazz, Pop, or Baroque. Before coming to the Netherlands, I graduated from the ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo) in Porto, Portugal. During my career, I have been working with musicians such as Floris Onstweder, Benny Wiame, Kevin Wauldron, Telmo Barbosa, and Carlos Leite. I also did a masterclass with musicians like Reinhold Friedrich, Jeroen Berwaerts, Charles Schlueter, Gábor Tarkövi, Fábio Brum, Clément Saunier, and Andrei Kavalinski. My goal as your teacher is to give you the main tools to play trumpet and expose you to the various aspects of trumpet performance. I can teach you about aspects like style, tone quality, endurance, and musical phrasing. I am also happy to help you with any aspects of music theory if the student is interested in doing so. I will help you understand concepts such as keys and meter signatures. I am also willing to help you prepare for possible entrance exams to music schools or Conservatoriums. Most of all, however, I want to show you how fun playing an instrument can be! Hope to see you soon!

For a children is very important to improve musical skills. This way they can find a better way to express themself and also if they feel angry, sad or anxious it is a very good tool to calm down and have a focus for the lot of energy what kids have after sitting all day in school. In my classes we won't only learn music, but improvise a lot with different sounds. Using a lot of movement: finding how the body can create rythm and sounds, how to explore our own voice with the help of the body. We will learn solfege and music theory also but in a playful way, where we will became the composers of the music. We will use a lot of different instruments and explore how can we describe a music and sounds what we hear and recognize how different types of music makes us feel. What images they give to us? What emotions they bring up? What kind of movements they create? We will listen to a lot of music from the classical field and also from the jazz and folk and pop departments. We will learn how to understand the rythm of a music and how to build the music in space. This class is not only for kids, if you are an adult, I am able to teach solfege and improvisation also.

Hello, my name is Izabel and I play the viola professionally and work in Zurich Opernhaus as well as other orchestras. I also have more than 10 years of experience teaching the violin, the viola and music theory. I can speak fluent English, Bulgarian and French. I can also understand German, but cannot fluently communicate. I would be happy to work with you or your child at your home, or in my studio, as well as give an online course. My weeks are often quite flexible and I am happy to accommodate to your schedule whenever it is possible. It is an important step in one's development to seek the right guidance and to have a teacher who helps them develop and grow. I was lucky to have been taught by incredible teachers, but I also needed to create a specialised way of practicing for myself, which I soon realised could help many others get through the difficulties of learning the stringed instrument. If you are interested in my course, please reach out and be sure that you will not regret it. All the best, Izabel

Music is a really beautiful art to learn. As a musician, I want my students to have a good experience and minimal knowledge to develop new skills and learn new instruments. With me, you will learn how to read scores, basic harmony, and a bit of music history, and we will also practice some singing together. I think singing is one of the best ways to experience this. I always try to use very practical and visual examples. With children, I focus my lessons on games, fairy tales, and getting to know all the instruments.
