My teaching centers on giving students a clear sense of direction, not just isolated tips. In our first lesson, I like to lay out a loose roadmap of where we're headed over the next few months, so progress feels concrete and intentional rather than vague. From there, I adapt closely to each student's actual goals — whether that's developing groove and time feel, expanding jazz vocabulary and harmonic understanding, or applying music theory directly on the neck. Because my own background spans classical composition, jazz performance, and Ableton production, I teach bass and music production as genuinely connected skills. For bass students, this often means building technique and vocabulary while also understanding the harmonic role the bass plays in a piece — inversions, voice leading, and how a bassline shapes the music around it, not just what notes to play. For production students, I bring the same structured approach to Ableton workflow, arrangement, and sound design, always grounding technical tools in the musical decisions they're meant to serve. Above all, I aim to meet students where they are and give them a clear, achievable sense of what mastery looks like at each stage, so that every lesson builds visibly toward something larger.

First of all, I am a specialized and fully dedicated Online Teacher. I have been teaching online since the very beginning of the covid pandemic. Since then, I have developed a lot of my way of working. All my lessons are run on Skype which works amazingly well for both video and audio. Also, to enrich the quality of the audio from my students, I very often use a pair of professional headphones which give me amazing high definition sound and articulation of the student. I also work on my iPad with the Apple Pencil and using the share screen resource I can demonstrate and draw on music sheets and methods that I am working with the student at that moment. My METHODOLOGY I use a methodology that I have developed over the years of practicing and teaching both my students and myself. It’s called: PRIORITY FOCUS. PRIORITY FOCUS basically is a non-multi tasking way of learning a musical instrument allowing time and space for us to learn and fully conquer one ability at a time. We start at the very basic aspects of posture, fingering, and embouchure, and climb our way up to the most detailed techniques and musical expressions. One Flute-playing ability at the time. This methodology is constructed on what I consider to be the two main subjects in Music learning and playing, what I call THE PILLARS OF MUSIC: MUSICALITY AND INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUE Both intermix and coexist in a single dimension, but in terms of studying and progressing, I find that separating them is essential to accelerate and solidify my students’ learning and my own. MUSICALITY encompasses aspects such as musical phrases, vibrato, dynamics, tone colors, improvisations, music theory, harmony, and style: CLASSICAL, JAZZ, FUNK, POP, SAMBA, and BOSSA-NOVA, all of which I have KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE. In INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUE, in our case, FLUTE TECHNIQUE, we have elements such as posture, embouchure, fingerings, breathing, articulation, tonguing, and music reading. To work on these aspects with my students I use several distinctive Flute Methods, from the most TRADITIONAL to the most MODERN ones, as well as INNUMEORUS EXERCICES that I have specifically developed for Flute technical improvements from years of experience as a Flutist, Student, and Teacher. I also use many teachings from distinct areas such as Yoga for FOCUS and RELAXATION, Alexander technique for Posture and BALANCE, and Philosophical spiritual schools for MOTIVATION. Ableton Live and Logic Pro are two of the most widely used tools for creating music on a computer. I designed these courses to teach you the basics of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation): an overview of the necessary equipment, multitrack recording methods, the use of real and virtual instruments, creating rhythms and beats, adding sound effects, and final mixing. I also offer an introduction to synthesis (i.e., the use of synthesizers) for electronic music composition, as well as an introduction to an AKAI MPC. Daphne is a teacher of both Suzuki and traditional violin, and has been teaching for the past 22 years. She has taught privately in Greece and the UK, at various music conservatories in Athens, the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music in London, St Catherine’s British School in Athens, the South Shore Conservatory in Boston, MA, and Ecole FACE in Montreal. She is a founding member of/teaches through Bariolage School of Music in Montreal and also offers lessons via FaceTime. Daphne also enjoys coaching ensembles, and has worked with the South Shore Conservatory Youth Orchestra (SSCYO). In 2012 she coached and directed the inaugural concert of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Baroque Consortium (ASON) at the Goethe Institute in Athens.
