Private Piano Lessons: Classical and Jazz, Pop Performance/TheoryTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Private Piano Lessons: Classical and Jazz, Pop Performance/TheoryTranslate this text using Google Translate.

The lessons will delve into both the technical and musical aspects of piano playing, theory, reading music, harmony, ear training, technique, pedagogy and more. My aim is to equip students to understand different music styles, build confidence, discover their unique voice and continue their musical journey independently. As Thelonious Monk said, the piano ain’t got no wrong notes. I'm passionate about traversing genres since I have studied both jazz and classical to a high level, making this class perfect for creative pianists and composers who want to go beyond reading music off a piece of paper. Trinity/ABRSM curriculum upto Grade 8, can also be optionally included. Teaching effective practice methods is a priority, ensuring students progress confidently and without leaning on me. Please note, I only teach in person to maintain high standards of guidance in technique. This is not possible via video conferencing. Since everyone asks: yes, I did study at Berklee College of Music as an undergraduate for some time, and I do help students out with their audition preparation for various music colleges! Currently, my students are between 14 and 74 years old— I believe that it’s never too late or too early to begin your musical journey. I look forward to your requests and have two vacant spots remaining in my roster for Winter 2025. Book now!

SINGING LESSON // TECHNIQUE // JAZZ // IMPROVISATION //Translate this text using Google Translate.

Teaching has been an extraordinary tool for my personal development as a vocalist. It’s fascinating to observe how the posture and vocal challenges of my students can reveal certain aspects of their personality. As a singer, your body is your instrument, and any physical or psychological issues can directly affect your voice. Through teaching, I have realized the profound impact that practicing singing has on my overall well being. It is not only helps me take care of my body but also enables me to feel confident and at ease when standing in front of individuals or even a large audience without hiding behind an instrument. This sense of comfort and confidence extends beyond the realm of singing and positively influences my personal growth as a person. My goal is to instill this mindset in my students. I believe it is more beneficial to approach singing not as a tedious practice, but as a profound discipline that contributes to their overall well-being and adds value to their everyday lives. When we view singing in this light, it becomes an uplifting factor that goes beyond technical exercises and becomes a source of joy, personal growth, and empowerment. Improvisation for beginners and intermediates (any instrument)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Improvisation for beginners and intermediates (any instrument)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it. For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

ONLINE PIANO LESSONS (Jazz, Classical, Pop-Rock) - Find your personal voice at the instrument with a creative teaching approachTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hey there! Do you already play the piano and you want to improve your skills with a creative approach to the instrument? Then I think I can help you! I can teach you basic and advanced concepts of any style on the piano (classical, jazz, pop-rock...), and if you like improvisation and jazz then we get along even better! I offer very personalized classes based on your level and interests. My approach to teaching strongly takes the student's creativity into account, but without forgetting that a good knowledge of music theory and piano technique are essential. I firmly believe that a teacher must do everything possible to avoid suppressing the student’s personal voice. Each of us — regardless of age or skill level — has a unique approach to music, even before touching the instrument! My goal is to help students discover their own musical identity at the piano, drawing on my experience and offering a solid theoretical foundation tailored to their interests and level. That said, as in any discipline, there are no shortcuts in music. Passion and dedication are essential to achieving meaningful results. Furthermore, a solid technical and theoretical foundation is indispensable, no matter your musical interests. I look forward to sharing my deep passion for music with you. Feel free to reach out for more information!

“ Yuvraj is a wonderful teacher! I've been studying piano for half a year with him, and the progress never stops. He teaches everything that you need to be a pianist, including the technique, classical theory, jazz theory, as well as how to find good new songs. Within the few months that I've had him, he quickly took me from having zero practical music knowledge to being able to read and play Trinity grade 3 songs on my own. Yuvraj always tries to make piano something fun and enjoyable, rather than just another annoying thing to grind all the time. This is the guy for those who want to learn with a relaxed, slow and steady attitude. Even better if you're down to challenge yourself with new, unconventional music that you might not expect. While I don't really have anything to compare him to, I am very happy learning piano with Yuvraj. ”

“ great experience, my daughter loved Evelyn and can't wait to learn more. ”
