About Me

Hello! My name is Shizuka. After studying classical and jazz music in Japan, I enrolled in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and obtained a bachelor's degree in jazz. Currently, I teach trombone and Japanese lessons online.

In my lessons, I prioritize my students' desires and work together to achieve their goals. I take a mindful approach, so my lessons aren't just about pushing through with sheer willpower. I strive to make my lessons enjoyable.

The lessons are designed by the teacher, Ernesto, a graduated trumpeter from Conservatorium Van Amsterdam, with experience being an international musician, to expose the student to the various aspects of trumpet performance and to develop a course of study to help him/her develop and maintain a good performance skills starting from any level.
In case the student is not a trumpet player, but wants to develop his/her musical skills by learning the theory, this course is also designed for that.
The course is designed to aid the student in achieving the following objectives:
-Learn the basics of musical performance with special attention to rhythm, tone quality, musical phrasing, range, intonation, improvisation, ear training and style.
-Develop the ability to perform music from different jazz periods.
-Develop the ability to play in a trumpet section (Big Band, Commercial sections, Latin sections, etc.)

My name is Mathis and I am from Germany, currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I play bass/tenor trombone and tuba on a professional level (I am regularly subbing in e.g. the Metropole Orkest or the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw) as well as piano and trumpet on an advanced level. I am proficient in many styles, such as jazz or classical music. I am fluent in German, English and Dutch and C1 level in French.

Teaching has been an extraordinary tool for my personal development as a vocalist. It’s fascinating to
