English and Italian lessons with particular attention to grammar, conversation and speech developmentTranslate this text using Google Translate.

I am an Italian native speaker and I am fluent in English, having lived a decade in a few different places in the UK. Furthermore I speak Spanish to a beginner-to-intermediate level. I’ve got two passions in life: music and cultures and they both relate to languages. Music is known to be a universal language and different cultures connect with, and influence each other, through the use of spoken language. My formal education lays in music, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, and a five-year diploma as a Jazz bass player from the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado in Milan. I’ve been teaching music for fifteen years and during the last one I've decided to expand over to languages, by taking up the challenge to combine my passion for teaching with the love for languages. I’ve developed the latter during my many years abroad, where I shared my everyday life with people from all over te world. My method is essentially based on grammar and conversation, alternating the two based on the student’s level of fluency. Once the basics are mastered I focus on conversation, especially providing thorough explanation about typical words and expressions and their various acceptations within different contexts. At times I may also add the odd etymology side note when relevant. I also like to use readings upon subjects that are of the student’s interest, as this aids in nurturing their motivation. Given the transformative and fluid nature of speech, my aim is to deliver an organic learning experience, able to be put to fruition from the start and in everyday life, but that also won’t fail to address the differences between formal and informal interactions. Hence, avoiding inhibit a swift communication in favour of grammatical accuracy. A second level of my teaching focuses on expanding the student's writing skills and this is aimed to individuals who may have achieved a solid grasp of the basis and a wider knowledge on vocabulary. This is because writing is an art on its own and its objective is to convey one's true thoughts and feelings, therefore it requires a dedicated effort. I can teach in English, Italian and Spanish and lessons can be either in person at your place or mine, or via Zoom. Get in touch for more information!

Natural, fluent English through relaxed real-life conversationTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Natural, fluent English through relaxed real-life conversationTranslate this text using Google Translate.

My main focus is free conversation and emotional confidence. I love creating a relaxed, safe, and playful space where we can smile, laugh, and enjoy talking together naturally. Language learning, for me, starts with connection — feeling comfortable, welcomed, and free to express yourself without fear of making mistakes. Conversation is at the heart of my lessons. Grammar is only introduced when useful and in a simple, practical way. Most of the time, we talk about real life, emotions, travel, cultures, and whatever is alive for you in that moment. Lessons are co-created and spontaneous, with no rigid structure or traditional classroom feeling. I believe learning is always mutual — I learn from you as much as you learn from me! Music and creativity are an important part of my life. I travel with a ukulele and use music and singing as gentle tools to support pronunciation, rhythm, and self-expression. I’m also deeply connected to art and handmade creation. I practice yoga, meditation, conscious breathing, free and intuitive movement, and dance. These practices help me bring presence, patience, and deep listening into our conversations. I also work with ceremonial cacao and facilitate cacao rituals and workshops, including online spaces. I’m passionate about conscious living, natural skincare and products that respect both our skin and the planet, and mindful nutrition. I mainly follow a vegan lifestyle, with flexibility inspired by travel and cultural experiences. Many students tell me they feel “at home” in my lessons, like talking with a friend. If you’re looking for a warm, human, creative, and non-traditional way to practice a language, I’d love to meet you!

Maria is a superb engaging teacher. I'm so happy I found her she is so focused on my learning needs. She makes learning Italian so much fun and actually I am surprised how much I am learning. By using interactive tools Maria helps to increase my confidence. Look no further! Maria is incredible in just a few sessions I have advanced quicker than ever before having spent months in a classroom not progressing. Maria will challenge your limitations and you will progress so quickly!

Pietro is an excellent professional Bass Guitar teacher with extensive theory and practical musical knowledge. He makes you feel comfortable and confident in his company. I feel any questions you may have to do with music theory or practical he can answer, demonstrate and teach you. For those students who speak English, his spoken, knowledge and understanding of the the English language is excellent.

It was a real pleasure to have lessons with Emanuela. She is super responsive and great in communication; scheduling lessons was super easy as Emanuela is very flexible an well organized. The lessons were a great experience, tailored to my level and needs. She also put in extra work with preparing the lessons and sending a follow-up (incl. small exercise if needed). I do highly recommend her!
