Questions about the past, or questions about the present. I am Merijn, 20 years old, and student of History at the Free University of Amsterdam. Ever since primary school, I have been interested in the profession. In addition, I spend a lot of free time reading subject-related books and watching programs, documentaries, etc.. I took the history course at the Atheneum and eventually passed. I still had a hard time answering questions on my test. I often wrote 8 pages full just to make sure I got something right, haha. Giving witty, relevant answers is very important here, and I've learned to master this over the years. I can help with questions from primary school level, up to 6th year VWO, in which it does not matter which period in history this is about. In addition, I can help with teaching material offered by your school, but I can also bring my own material or ask other questions, which might make it just a bit easier to understand. Studying and understanding the past is incredibly important for making sense of the present and future. The course and lessons can be tailor made to the history you want to learn or I can put together a course touching on multiple topics chosen by me. This can include Ancient, Medieval or Modern History from around the world. My Bachelors degree is in History of Art, so I can provide lessons on this as well. My Masters degree was in History and Culture with a focus on Black British History in 60s-80s Britain. If you want to understand more about this rich history that is not included in the school curriculum, please book on today. This will focus on how minority groups resisted the racism and poor treatment they received. I am also a newly qualified History Teacher at secondary level, up to KS5, which means I understand the national curriculum and can contextualise the exam syllabus in order to maximise student outcomes and progress. I understand that different tasks and approaches work for different types of students, meaning I strive to adapt lessons and alter my teaching style accordingly. I am committed to creating a positive and relaxed environment where the tutee feels comfortable and engaged in the lesson. Trusted teacher: I offer three types of courses to choose from, so you can choose one course or choose two or all three. For English lessons: The objective is to improve your level of English on all points (grammar, conjugation, vocabulary...). The courses can focus on a specific area or on various and varied areas. The learning will be done by classic exercises (school types) but also by activities allowing a more interactive learning. For pupils or students, it will also be a question of reworking the exercises seen in class, revising for exams or controls but also working on the weak points. For science courses: The objective is to rework the different chapters seen in class, rework the science practicals as much as possible, prepare for exams or even prepare before the different start of the school year. By science we must here understand SVT, Chemistry mainly but also Physics and Mathematics. It is also a question of proposing different learning techniques in order to allow a better understanding of these subjects. For history lessons: The objective remains essentially the same as for science lessons. Indeed I propose to rework the different elements seen in class but also to prepare for the start of the school year and exams. I could work with the books provided by the school as support, but I would also work on books that I would bring back myself in order to avoid any additional costs. I am able to provide history lessons on all eras that can be addressed in class.
