Exciting History Lessons For All Ages and Abilities!

Studying and understanding the past is incredibly important for making sense of the present and future. The course and lessons can be tailor made to the history you want to learn or I can put together a course touching on multiple topics chosen by me. This can include Ancient, Medieval or Modern History from around the world.
My Bachelors degree is in History of Art, so I can provide lessons on this as well. My Masters degree was in History and Culture with a focus on Black British History in 60s-80s Britain. If you want to understand more about this rich history that is not included in the school curriculum, please book on today. This will focus on how minority groups resisted the racism and poor treatment they received.
I am also a newly qualified History Teacher at secondary level, up to KS5, which means I understand the national curriculum and can contextualise the exam syllabus in order to maximise student outcomes and progress. I understand that different tasks and approaches work for different types of students, meaning I strive to adapt lessons and alter my teaching style accordingly.
I am committed to creating a positive and relaxed environment where the tutee feels comfortable and engaged in the lesson. Hopefully my classes will help you ignite your love for history and uncover new found interests!
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information and queries.

About Me
Hi I'm Naomi :) I am a qualified History Teacher at secondary level, teaching up to KS5. I am a patient and understanding teacher that strives to create a positive atmosphere that encourages learning and inquiry. My teaching qualification means I understand a multitude of different teaching approaches and therefore aim to alter my style according to the individual.
I particularly enjoy discovering areas of interest for students in subjects they perhaps otherwise struggle to engage with. To maximise my students’ success, I spend a significant time contextualising the syllabus content in an exam setting – building my tutees confidence by targeting their exam technique and essay writing skills. It would be an honour to work alongside students in the area to help them reach their personal and academic goals. I am passionate about devising exciting activities that students can engage with to enjoy learning.
All my lesson plans are individually tailored and I focus on helping each student to attain their personal goals. I have experience with a range of students including SEN students and am always looking to bring out the best in my students through encouragement and setting targets to motivate them in their learning. However, I am also happy to tutor for fun, without targets and tests, just to build knowledge and a love for the subject.
In my personal life I enjoy reading, walking and playing tennis. I am part of a community gardening group in partnership with an environmental charity to combat climate change. The aim is to grow sustainable food and donate this to local food banks.
