My first lesson is more of a presentation lesson, which allows me to measure the level of my student, but also to exchange about his goals and reasons to learn French, his strengths and weaknesses. After that, I mostly adapt my lessons to my student. I always encourage the student to speak and do the effort at his own rhythm. My traditional lesson is to introduce the lesson with a little bit of conversation to be in what I called the "french mode". After that, I introduce the exercise or the theme of the lesson. Could be reading, writing, translating, explaining, listening. Sometimes, a subject can cover a few lessons and sometimes, only one is necessary to get it. It depends on the complexity, but also of the level of the student. In all cases, I try to have a time where I ask if everything is clear, always encouraging my student to stop me if something is still foggy or totally unclear.
