ENGLISH / ECONOMICS / POLITICS TUITION FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS

ENGLISH / ECONOMICS / POLITICS TUITION FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS

Hello - I'm Tim, a recent graduate from Durham University and the University of Oxford. I'd love to help students make targeted improvements in their chosen areas. My qualifications are as follows: Distinction in MA International Relations from Durham University 2.1 in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford A*s at A level in English Literature, Economics and Politics A at A level in German 11 A*s at GCSE (Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, History, Geography, German, Mathematics, Physics, Religious Education) Additionally, I passed the 11+ entrance exams for Wilson's School, Wallington County Grammar School, and St. Olave's Grammar School. I have experience tutoring students from primary school up to A level. I also have extensive experience teaching debating to students ranging from 8-18. This involved delivering workshops on both debating technique and content, before allowing students to put their learning into practice and providing extensive feedback on their speeches. I like to identify where the most improvement can be made and target encouraging feedback towards those areas. Often I find it helpful to have students prepare material for each session so we can work through the answers and clarify any misunderstandings before applying the learning to new examples. Please get in touch if you have any questions!

Physics, Maths and Economics for students studying for IB, A level and GCSE exams

Physics, Maths and Economics for students studying for IB, A level and GCSE exams

I am a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic teacher of physics, maths and economics. I have a PhD in Physics from the University of Glasgow, where I studied the sub-atomic and quantum effects of interactions between high intensity laser beams and aromatic molecules. I also have an M.Sci. degree in Physics from the University of Glasgow and an M.Sc. in Economic Management and Policy from the University of Strathclyde. I am also a UK qualified teacher with a PGCE from Nottingham University. Since qualifying as a secondary school teacher in 2014 I have taught at some of Europe’s most prestigious schools. Most of my current work involves teaching highly personalised lessons to students wishing to improve or excel at the IB, A Level or GCSE exams. I have also helped physics undergraduate students to improve both their theoretical knowledge and their experimental skills. Before becoming a full-time tutor I worked as a research scientist and, later, as a medical physicist. So I bring not only a strong passion for science and maths into my lessons but a practical, real-world context for the subjects. I help students achieve the highest possible grades by tackling their areas of difficulty and building their confidence. My aim is to ensure students understand the fundamental concepts in order to build knowledge and apply this in exams. My educational background: 1999-2002 Ph.D. Physics, University of Glasgow 1994-1998 M.Sci. Physics, University of Glasgow 2013-2014 PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), Nottingham University 2009-2012 M.Sc. Economic Management and Policy (distance learning), University of Strathclyde
