Would you like to learn how to write poetry or develop your poetic craft with the assistance of an experienced teacher? In this class, we'll work on shaping new drafts whilst learning about international poetic forms as well as producing some free verse work. We'll edit our material and, if we have multiple sessions, we'll put together a brief collection! We will explore the world of the senses, memories, and connect to language in a new, profound way. My course is not prescriptive, and we'll meet your voice wherever you're at right now. You'll be taught by a published poet with work experience in the UK and North America. I've taught Creative Writing to university students at a world-leading school, and worked with younger audiences, and I'm happy to work with a variety of forms in English. I studied for my MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia, and won a scholarship as the strongest poet in my cohort.

I've written a dozen plays in the last year alone, so consider myself well acquainted with the pitfalls and complex methodologies of this often tricky art. I hope to use these classes to help you develop more reliable writing practices and overcome the dreaded writer's block once and for all.

Studying English Literature is a wonderful way to try and make sense of the world. You will learn how to examine it critically, how to employ nuance and to empathise with others. After studying English Literature at the University of Liverpool, I am comfortable discussing a wide range of literary texts from plays to poems to novels from Shakespearean texts to the modern day.

I have been involved in art for twenty years. I started out painting and selling both oils and watercolours. This developed to become, for a while, the main source of our household income. I managed to have solo exhibitions in Devon and Kent in the UK, as well as USA, Japan and, when I lived in France, several there too. When I returned from France, I started my academic studies in Fine Art Sheffield Hallam and Leeds Arts University where I receive a BA and MA in fine art. I have great interest in the theory of fine art, such as composition, perspective, colour theory; the technology of fine art in understanding materials used and techniques applied. The theories of doing that allow successful expression. As well as purely fine art theory, this allows me to bring in psychology and other scientific thought, not to usurp fine are theory, but to bolster it both to confirm existing theories as well as opening out possible avenues for discovering new ones. In painting I see myself as impressionist but recently have moved more towards realism to better communicate with internet viewer. This is because, when a piece is photographed, people cannot see complexity of the brush strokes used. I like to paint genre where complicated compositions and intellectual work is involved but I also do portraits, still life and landscape. In sculpture I use mostly archaic composition, as exemplified by Henry Moore and Aristide Maillol. I really enjoy sharing my love of art with other. I believe everybody can express themselves through art (and probably should) and I love being a catalyst to make that happen. I do not use restrictive instruction where I tell students what they must do, but help them develop themselves - help them to discover their own way while sharing helpful insights from my own practice and wide knowledge of fine art practice and theory.

I specialise and have years of experience, skills and training in SEN as well as supporting children in mainstream education. Therefore, I'm qualified in supporting and providing 1:1 to an SEN, primary school child, who has learning difficulties and needs full support in any subject from Key Stages 1-2. Updates on your child's progress as well as homework will also be provided regularly. Full support will also be given to mainstream children who do not have learning difficulties but need some tuition in English, Maths or Science etc. Exam support for those preparing for their SATS in Key Stages 1 - 2 will be given. All children will be provided with homework on a weekly basis. I like to give parents of young children regular updates on how their child is progressing.
